Self-employed from home

Pet care experience

I am a canine behaviorist with an overwhelming love and respect for all animals. My never-punishment training concepts are in my book. I help people and their dogs all over the world with those concepts. I've cared for animals, my own and those of friends and students, for over 50 years. I built my current house with dogs foremost in mind. There are no “dead-ends” where a dog can be cornered. Many feet of window seating give a lift to small dogs, and any size dog can also see out of the doors which are all full light. A state-of-the-art dog door gives free access to the outdoors. I have a 10-acre horse and rescued donkey ranch at the end of a gravel road with a half-mile path around the pasture for dog walks. For outside play space there is a sod fenced yard separate from the "big guys" but close to them for interest and bordered by wild area with high grass for hiding and exploring. Inside is room for chasing toys and wrestling with others. I am self-employed and with the animals throughout the days and nights except when I have to be doing outside chores or going to a meeting. When I'm outside, dogs can be outside watching me from their yard or inside watching me through the windows. If your dog likes to hike, that's great as I do, too, and mountain trailheads are 10 minutes away! I think of dogs' time here as a camp experience. I want the dogs to love camp here so much they wish they didn't have to go home! I love all breeds, sizes and ages equally, but aggression would not work here at camp. As a behaviorist, I can certainly help (and have helped) such dogs overcome their fear-based issues (it's always fear-based) so that one day they can come to camp. I welcome even the old, infirm, and physical special-needs, but they either need to be mentally stable, or I need to help them become so in order for them to come to camp. Don't hesitate to discuss with me possibilities here for short-term specialized temporary care. It's possible I can accommodate that need at certain times. I am a person, and not a computer, so please know that everything indicated on this form is open for discussion.

Judy is clearly a dog lover and has built her house with dogs in mind. She has written a book on training dogs which I also recommend. My dog was happy there for a week with lots of room to roam, and didn’t want to get in the car to go home.
