Passionate Dog Lover and Advocate

Pet care experience

Since I was a child, I was surrounded by Dogs. (we raised German Shepherds..dare I say? they raised me, as childhood pics showed them protecting me.) As an adult, I have owned and cared for 5 dogs over a 25 year period, with my last 2 dogs well into a healthy, old age. My Bailey passed away last year at 16 yrs of age. My boy, Champ, just turned 13. I recently relocated to Seattle and am renting currently such that I can't bring my dog up here yet. I miss him. So I hoped to fill a void by spoiling dogs up here in Seattle. Also, I can't dog-sit at this property because it is a rental. But I am happy to go to people's homes to care for their dogs. I work full-time at a local, Seattle hospital as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, but hoped to dog walk and dog-sit on my days off. As a professional, I am dedicated and responsible to the care of my patients and as a dog lover, I am no less committed to their welfare. I would be honored to give back and care for someone else's pets, as I have had the past benefit of others who cared for my pets. I was always grateful when I found a trusted pet-sitter so I appreciate how anyone with a dog would want someone that they could trust with their pet while they were away.

Judy takes great care of my older dog Champ. I know he's having a good time when I receive the daily photos and updates. Judy is very thorough in her care and I so appreciate that Champ is safe, comfortable and well-loved by someone who clearly loves dogs.

Information Judy G. would like to know about your pet

I love German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labs, just about any dog really. I don't force myself on them because I understand how dog's can be tentative with someone new. It doesn't bother me if dogs like to jump up and say "hi', but I would like to know if a dog is extra aggressive or becomes so with other dogs?? Not that that would frighten me but because I could prepare how to handle them around other dogs. (ie avoid dogs that might agitate them..etc...I owned 2 German Shepherds that would get fussy around other dogs, so I learned how to keep them calm and de-escalate them)

A typical day

Depending upon where the dogs live, if the owner permits, I would happily take them for walks around their neighborhoods or to the park. In fact, if they have an older pet who can't walk far but may have a home a short drive from their house, I would drive the dog to the park and walk the dog there. I used to do this for my Bailey because I knew how much she loved the park but how difficult it was for her to walk a fair distance to get there. Or, I would happily play with the dog at the owner's home. I throw frisbees or balls or whatever .
