If you want a pet sitter who sparks comfort and joy in your pet (and, by extension, in you), here I am. Loving, attentive, and detail-oriented, I’ve cared for the pets of friends and neighbors over the years- enough years such that past clients in Los Angeles keep me updated on how their furry family members are doing, and when, sadly, they have gone to the big play yard in the sky. Whether it’s reassuring a scared rescue dog, pampering an attention-hungry Shih Tsu, or opening up the throttle on an athletic doodle, I enjoy being the one whom pets and their human family members rely upon for calm, competent, worry- and guilt-free pet care. I also have trained alongside a professional dog trainer in how to coach dogs unaccustomed to good leash manners and helped a favorite family rehabilitate their squirrel-chasing, dog-attacking, 14-pound rescue into a calm, happy, and easy-to-walk companion. Having owned and maintained nice homes, I take excellent care of my clients’ homes, including any routine plant and garden care. As a houseguest, I leave a light footprint and a clean and tidy house.

Joyce is wonderful! She's been walking/dropping in to check on our two dogs, Chloe and Sequoia. Together, the two are about 130 pounds of love, and can be a handful. Chloe is our older dog who is not always welcoming of other dogs. Sequoia has a bit of separation anxiety. Yet Joyce is very patient with them both, who are always happy to see her. We're fortunate to have met Joyce, and know we can rely on her to take care of our two pups who need a little bit more attention and kindness. We also are lucky that she goes above and beyond by helping out with little things around the house for them. We recommend Joyce 100%!!!

Just had another great experience working with a Joyce! In the last year, Joyce has taken my dog, Steffi, on walks several times each week and has assisted with Steffi’s care on numerous occasions when I’ve needed to be out-of-town. Joyce is the best!! When we got our first family dog, a german shepherd rescue puppy, Joyce guided me from the very beginning with valuable information that helped me to raise a well trained dog. She has been walking and dog sitting dogs for years and her understanding of the canine ways eased my jitters and helped me tremendously. Schicci's tail goes crazy when Joyce approaches the front door, there is no doubt in my mind that he really enjoys Joyce's attention (oh, and treats too, of course!) . If you will not get jealous that another person gets your dog's (s) special welcome, do not hesitate to have Joyce care for them.

Dogs need to be non aggressive towards people and other dogs. It’s important to know if a dog is skittish or fearful of anything or any type of person or behavior, and whether it has a strong prey drive. If a dog has any history of biting or nipping, I’m sorry but I’d rather not be responsible for it. Dietary restrictions and any medical needs or cautions are, of course, essential information, as well as your vet’s contact info in case of emergency. It’s also important to know what gives your pet pleasure and joy!
A typical day
Neighborhood walks can include the walking path along the Bay, and any habitual, safe off leash areas subject to your dog’s routine. Open to suggestions and permission to take dogs to other safe areas with which your dog is already familiar. If your dog does well at his/her favorite dog park, just say the word. I do not otherwise allow dogs in my care to go off leash in public places.I am very active, physically, and I’m happy to take your dog on long, brisk walks. For cats, of course it’s important to let your cat decide how and when (s)he wants to interact. Happy to play with your cat, cozy up with her, etc., depending on what your cat would like. I’ve had two cats- a Tuxedo, and a Persian mix who would come out of the house to greet me in the driveway every day when I pulled up in my car after work.

Availability
I work remotely as a market research consultant, so can care for your pet(s) throughout the day and evening. I have plenty of time and flexibility to take dogs on multiple walks a day, and/or longer outings as appropriate, and a make sure your dog or cat receives visit her proper bedtime turn down service, whatever that may be!
