Hi, I'm JT! I got my first dog at age four, and since then have fostered everything from former fighting dogs to a white German Shepherd used in a prison rehabilitation program. I am a bona-fide animal lover and work from home, meaning my pups and pup guests are spoiled with lots of love, an absurd amount of toys, and everything else they may need. I am also a bit of a toy snob, in that I don't like rawhide or stuff dogs can't digest, or any types of bones that may break teeth. This means I get insane niche chew toys like this himalayan root thing that looks like a rock, and deer antlers. (If you aren't as nerdy as me and have not tried these things, trust me: dogs go nuts for them both.) I have probably the most experience with Labradors, German Shepherds, Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and Bulldogs--although to be perfectly accurate I have always had Heinz 57 mutts roughly composed of those parts. Although I haven't owned any yet, I am a sucker for huge dogs--your Great Danes, St. Bernards, Bull Mastiffs, etc. One other thing I will mention is that I do live in an apartment, but I have two high energy dogs and am very used to keeping them happy! I do know some apartment dwellers that don't prepare properly for the amount of exercise dogs need, but I am definitely not one of those people. I usually spend my lunch break & an hour after work at the dog park -- I love walking them as well, but think they get more enjoyment out of running around, roughhousing with other dogs, and playing fetch. Lastly, I will add that I have my own two dogs, but am used to a much heavier workload. Most of my dog-sitting experience is for my godparents, who had four dogs AND two cats I would care for. (No kidding--two bulldogs, a Bichon, and a Chihuahua with a Napoleon complex.) Aside from that I grew up in a household of two 70+ pound dogs and two cats. I am used to juggling a lot of furry ones in the household, and enjoy it. I recently had a sort of scary experience with my own sitter-someone I paid to have background checked, contacted references, etc. I have had much better experiences with Rover so far, and I hope to offer that same sense of surety to other people. I work from home, I love dogs, it is a no-brainer. I have (if I can humbly say) an option for even worry-wart pet parents, including doggy seatbelts for the car and every other thing you can think of. I have watched animals for people going down the east coast or going to Italy and Iceland in the last year. I take a lot of care to make sure you are getting updates, and if I'm being perfectly honest can't resist taking cute dog pics anyway. Last but not least, I am a government contractor and have a security clearance, so I have been thoroughly vetted every which way.
