I would not recommend Jovanka as a sitter for anyone’s pets. Let me summarize the reasons why: she will not get back to your messages in a timely order, she lied about how often she’s really home, she introduces your dog to a cat even though his profile clearly says no cats, and pawns him off to a friend and a completely new environment without the owners approval, and will ultimately ruin your vacation with stress but no responses, and can’t follow through with commitment because she asks for your pet to get picked up midway through the booking while you’re across the country on vacation. I am truly sad that our dog wasn’t the right fit for her apartment, as he liked to be vocal at nighttime. However, when the issue arose, Jovanka texted me the details, I responded immediately, and then she didn’t respond for another 6 hours. This isn’t a big deal usually, but since she was having issues with Murphy, I wanted her to communicate and respond back so that I could help solve the issue. I kept trying to help, and get more answers for myself, but I would have to wait hours for a response. When we tried offering suggestions, and I needed her email address to ship an item to her (to help with the puppo) again, it took so long for her to actually answer my question or give me the needed information. Since it took her so long to respond, the item was no longer able to be shipped to her place in time, and she said she could pick up the item, but she never did. This item was to help solve one of the issues, but again, she was “too busy” to bother picking it up, even though it would have helped with one of the issues they were having. Now, I understand that she had work or school, but her profile also highlighted that she could take dogs out to the bathroom every 2-4 hours (meaning she would be home most of the day). This turns out to be a lie, and she’s gone for at least 8-10 hours, and can barely be reached during this time. She was extremely unprofessional in her message response time, and it turns out she is a liar because she isn’t even home for most of the time that you think your dog will be with her. To put icing on the cake, she even asked for Murphy to get picked up by us. We were across the country on vacation, and she was adamant that she wanted him to get a new sitter. Once I got Rover involved she *magically* responds fast to my messages which is no surprise since she was told Rover would be looking at what happened. In addition to this, she tells me that yes, Murphy can get picked up tonight. She tells me she will be home after 6. I tell her the sitter will be coming soon, she says “okay”. Then I tell her the sitter is driving over, and all of a sudden Jovanka says “oh wait, I’m not home. You said tomorrow night, not tonight.” I looked back at all of our messages and I so clearly said tonight, and she said “okay” to it. So our new sitter had to wait around for Jovanka to get home, and then Jovanka asked the new sitter to pick Murphy up from her friend’s house. Apparently murphy was being watched at the friend’s house for some time (which was not approved or ran by us ever). And our new sitter told us that the roommate said something about murphy not getting along with her cat, which is a concern since Jovanka’s profile didn’t mention a cat, and Murphy’s profile says no cats please. So it seems like Jovanka pawned our dog off on a friend because things weren’t working, didn’t check with us about doing so, and invited him into an environment with a cat even though his profile clearly states no cats. The last part that really sucked is so silly, but any pet owner would understand as annoying. I asked Jovanka to please pack all of Murphy’s things and make sure she gives them to the new sitter, and to especially pack his special toy. She ended up not packing his food bowl, or the toy, and our new sitter even asked her what happened to his toy. Jovanka said “he never had a toy” which is also another lie, or something she didn’t even bother paying attention to in the short time she had him before giving up on him. I also reminded her to pack it for him because it’s the only toy he ever plays with, and since he has doggy dementia, it is the only thing that comforts him when he’s stressed. I am sympathetic that our dog was too vocal for her apartment, but I am not complacent with her unprofessional and lying behavior. In the span of over 10 different sitters for our dog, all in apartments or houses, we’ve never received a complaint like hers and been asked to pick up our dog early. I find that distasteful, unprofessional, and overall rude because I tried to solve the issue and help many times, but it was ultimately her who wouldn’t respond to our messages and efforts to help. She ruined our vacation, and should not be trusted with your pets unless you don’t mind all of the issues we had with her. We will now be updating Murphy’s profile to let other sitters know that he is sensitive to noise, and can be vocal at nighttime. We will also do meet and greets from now on to avoid this issue ever happening again. I take ownership that the behaviors should have been better stated and explained, but with the sitter’s 4 years of experience I expected more from her. Even with these simple fixes on our end, these would not have solved an unresponsive and easy to quit sitter like Jovanka.

Jovanka took such great care of our dog Luna and was so communicative and flexible. Sent lots of pics through the stay which was so lovely! We will definitely be bringing Luna back!
