Just recently, I lost my boxer, Sam. He was my world! Sam, basically, taught me more of how to be more than just a dog owner. He taught me how to be a parent, a big brother, a guardian and an awesome friend more than anything. My father and I taught him so much in his time on this Earth. From sitting to laying down, or shaking a hand to hugging or giving puppy kisses, there was so much that he could do that he learned all as a puppy. He taught me the value of family and how one pet could single-handedly bring a family together, more than ever. I loved waking up every morning and taking him out for potty time and then giving him his morning treats before I’d spend the first bit of my day playing with him to get his muscles going. About 3-5 times a day, we’d change his water bowl and put ice in to cool him off. There were days where he’d sit out on the patio with me and enjoy the breeze with the beautiful sunshine. In the evening, he’d get a nicely-prepared meal filled with nutrition and heartiness. A bit later, he’d get another walk and a couple more potty breaks before bed time. Just by looking at him, you could tell he had a nice, long day as he’d be worn down from the play time, exercise, comforting and loving we gave him. That’s when we’d say “Sam, go to bed” and he’d do as he was told. He had 3 beds in the house in case if he’d prefer to stay by whoever is in the living room or upstairs where the other 2 beds for him are. I’m available whenever I am home from school. I absolutely love being around dogs! I love them more than anything. Most, if not all, dogs have special places in my heart. I’d treat them as if they were mine for sure.
