Pet-loving family!

Pet care experience

I've had pets all during my childhood. A miniature schnauzer was part of the family for over 6 years. Now we have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. My children are animal lovers, and both training to be veterinary technicians. They love to play with dogs & cats and pamper them. I've been using Rover for several years, and I loved the sevice so much, I decided to join as a sitter as well.

Josie is amazing! We had to leave town for a family emergency just 2 weeks after adopting our abused and neglected shelter pup..Josie showed compassion and the kindest of hearts towards our fur baby. She sent multiple daily updates, videos and pictures, which showed our dog thriving and playing with her dog. I highly recommend Josie and I will definitely use her again

First time booking with Josie and would definitely rebook in the future. Communication was good and she gave me updates while my dog was with her for a few days. I could tell she was a dog person and I felt very comfortable leaving my pup in her care.

Josie is amazing with our dog and was willing to take him out n short notice so we could travel for a funeral. She’s wonderful and we really appreciate how well she takes care of our dog.

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a house with a fenced yard. There is plenty of room for your dog to get exercise. We also go on dog walks outside and around the neighborhood (with a leash) if you're okay with that. We have one dog at home, a Chessy mixed with Frenchie named Happy. She is spayed and is up to date on her shots and medications. She is very playful and energetic around other dogs. We also have experience with larger medium-sized dogs, as well as puppies. Your dog will get play time, breaks, nap time, belly rubs, snacks (if approved by you), and lots of attention. I believe in sending pictures, videos, and updates daily so you know your fur baby is okay. *With regards to safety, I have an update after a recent incident* - the safety of my family and other pets in my home are also important. Absolutely no violent dogs or dogs that are prone to attack for whatever reason. If any dog attacks or bites any pets or people while in my care, they will have to be picked up immediately, and any vet or medical bills reimbursed. I am also not able to accommodate destructive behaviors (destroying things in the home such as shoes, furniture, etc.).

Information Josie M. would like to know about your pet

I would need to know your pets schedule and routines. How often and how much to feed them. Any allergies or special dietary concerns. Any do's and don'ts. How are they around other dogs and people. Do they ever bite? (*Update after a recent incident*- Absolutely no violent dogs or dogs that are prone to attack for whatever reason. If any dog attacks or bites any pets or people while in my care, they will have to be picked up immediately, and any vet or medical bills reimbursed.) I am also not able to accommodate destructive behaviors (destroying things in the home such as shoes, furniture, etc.). Do they prefer company or keeping to themselves? Do they get separation anxiety when they are away from their home/family? Is your pet housebroken? Any health issues or concerns? Anything else that I should be aware of in order to best care for your pet.

A typical day

We will go on walks nearby, or if you prefer (and depending on the weather), play in our fenced in yard, or both. I understand that every pets' needs are different. Some require more activity, and some more rest. As long as you're okay with it, there will be plenty of cuddling, belly rubs, and petting. Older dogs usually want to just rest and not be picked up too much. Every dogs care style is individual. We also just sit down with them, and have them join us for movies and family time. At bedtime, I'll make sure your dog is comfortable. Most dogs prefer to sleep near a person, and we can accommodate that so they don't feel sad or scared. If they get anxious, I play calming music for them.

Someone is always home during the summer and most holidays. I work full time, but some days I work from home. My office is so close to home that I'm able to go home to check on pets during the day also. My kids are teens and also help with pet duties. Everyone in the home has experience caring for dogs, as well as other pets, such as hamsters and fish, plus my kids are veterinary tech students, and we call my daughter "the dog whisperer". Once you leave your pup with us, you'll see why. Dogs just love her and follow her.
