a volunteer with a lot of time

Pet care experience

Personally, I've had cats in my house since I was around 7. I am allergic to dogs so I never could own them growing up but, all my friends had them, so I usually carry an antihistamine with me. I've also been volunteering at Buddy Dog Humane Society since 2018, not including Covid. Since I am allergic to dog saliva, I usually work with cats and kittens. Often when I'm volunteering I wash dishes, mop, and sweep, clean cages/pens, provide cats with wet and dry food, and always ensure they have water, socialize cats with humans, dogs, and other cats, and sometimes secure a runaway or anxious/aggressive animal. I've also transported over 25 cats, with my dad, from NY to Buddy Dog Humane Society (Sudbury, MA) over the past couple of years. In the past, I have done daily walks/check-ins for my friends' dogs when they were out of town. I've also walked friends' and neighbors' dogs countless times. I am also quite experienced in petting both dogs and cats and am prone to falling in love with them.

Josie was amazing per usual! We had a family emergency and had to extend our trip and Josie was very accommodating.

Amazing help! She made her schedule flexible to come early to meet my kittens and followed my "on the fly" instructions to the exact word. Very sweet and loving to the kittens, they clearly loved her by the time I got home! My 3 month old kitten, Titan has a broken arm and she took great care to take care of him, cleaning the poop off of him when he accidently got it on himself 3x during her taking care of him. Making sure he didn't strain himself and keeping my kittens from playing too roughly (which has been such a difficult task as they love to play but I want to give Titan time to heal). I will definitely be checking with her availability first if I am ever going out of town to take care of them!

We love Josie, she is awesome and our kitties love her. She always takes really good care of our cats, she makes sure they get lots of love and attention. She also makes sure everything is clean, our cats can make a mess with their water and the litter. If I was you I wouldn’t hesitate to hire her!

Safety, trust & environment

Giving your pet my care and attention is my priority, especially in the form of cuddles and ear rubs. I also will always be cleaning up after your pets not only for their cleanliness but also for my sanity. I want to understand your animals specific needs in order to provide a safe environment that fosters trust between both you and your pets.

Information Josie E. would like to know about your pet

In my experience it’s much more important to ask about what your pet dislikes, and temperament. Finding out what an animal likes is a much easier job than discovering what they don’t. It’s also helpful to know any medical problems, current or in the past couple years.

A typical day

A typical day for your pet really depends on the client. Every animal is different, and has unique needs. I am a big advocate for walks, but I understand why that’s not always the best option. My job is to cater to the needs of you and your very loved pets.
