Hi! My name is Josh Stromberg-Wojcik. I'm married to Marie, and we live in Happy Valley, OR. I grew up in Happy Valley with Sunny, a lab/ golden retriever, from when I was 11 years old until he died in 2013 (I'm now 30). When we first got him, I took him outside and threw the ball, and was so disappointed when he didn't automatically know how to fetch right away (he was 4 months old). My Dad laughed and told me we would have him fetching in no time. He was right. I would often take him for walks and sometimes for runs (depending how fit he was). I love playing with dogs, and I would love to play with your dog! I know how energetic labs and retrievers are, as Sunny would run around our yard all the time. I would often play fetch and run around the yard with him. A couple years ago, our cousins from Victoria, CA, were visiting us in Happy Valley. They brought along their Nova Scotia Duck-Trolling Retriever named Sherlock who was in much better shape than Sunny, and who had a ton of energy. I offered to take him for a run and they were super happy. They told me, run him as far as you can! I took their word for it and ran him over six miles, stopping at the dog park and playing fetch for about a half hour before returning home. They said Sherlock was finally calm for the first time they could remember. The timing worked out great, as they were about to drive and take the ferry with Sherlock back up to Victoria. So they had a happy, relaxed puppy on their hands for that car and ferry ride. And although Rover only allows 30-minute chunks of time for walks/ runs, I could still do a pretty significant run with your dog in that time, which should leave him/ her tired and relaxed. I'm in good shape (in the last few years I've run several marathons and a half iron man) and would happily do a 30-minute run with your dog. I’m also happy to walk or jog with your dog. Just let me know their fitness level, I’m happy to accommodate. If I would be walking your dog, if my wife Marie happens to be free, she may also want to join us for the walk, if that is ok with you. I'm generally free all day except in the evenings (after about 4pm), and except Tuesdays from 11:30am-2:30pm.
