Hi, I'm Josh and I can be your dog walker, sitter, and pup-checker extraordinaire! I have a doctorate in psychology and have completed a professional course in animal behaviour and welfare. As a result I only use proven training methods and I am a big proponent of using positive reinforcement to encourage good leash behaviour. But don't worry, I don't shy away from more boisterous pups or those who need a little more help with their confidence! At present I am operating around the Roath, Penylan, and Cathays areas of Cardiff. I am available for dog walking during the day on both weekdays and weekends. I can also do check-ins during the day, and overnight house-sitting by appointment. I have grown up around assistance dogs, both working and as puppies, so I have a wealth of experience with different personalities and training requirements. I have worked with giant shepherd crosses, petite bulldogs and everything in-between. I have also worked with dogs in high-stress situations such as public transport and crowds. In short, I like to think I can handle just about anything! If your dog is reactive to other dogs, squirrels, hats, or even the colour lilac, let me know and I will do my best to avoid these! I use generic dry kibble as treats. If your dog has particular dietary requirements or has a preferred training aid (e.g., a ball), I am happy to substitute these instead. Of course if you prefer for your dog not to receive treats this is also perfectly fine too!
A typical day
Depending on your dog's energy needs and play preferences we can have a leisurely trot around Roath Lake, play fetch and run about in the Rec, or just snuffle about the bushes too. I prefer to keep dogs leashed at all times, but I can use a flexi or training lead for dogs who enjoy more self-guided roaming (where safe to do so). For house-sitting and pup-checks, again this is up to you. I love to play tug and throw tennis balls around, but if a simple belly rub is paradise, I can't argue either.
