I used to walk a dog every day who lived with an abusive owner for the first few years of her life. She was very small and afraid of the streets, but after a few weeks walking with me she became noticeably more confident. During this time I also walked a much larger dog who wasn't nearly as nervous but presented his own challenges with his size and general athleticism. They were both really great animals and feel I developed a relationship with both of them by the time my tenure was over. I always have had dogs growing up and am very comfortable around all sizes/breeds/personality types. I am a total dog lover and am comfortable walking at whatever pace they are comfortable with.
