Genuine lover of dogs and animals!

Pet care experience

I’ve had dogs of all ages over the course of my life, so I’m able to train puppies and properly tend to older dogs. I’ve walked and sat dogs for friends, family, and clients since I was a teenager. One of my quirks is my love for talking and playing with dogs! I’m a full time student, so most of my time is spent in virtual classes or completing school work. This flexible schedule is ideal for dog sitting, as I can put the dogs’ needs first and complete my schoolwork when possible. I usually take on walking jobs in the mornings and evenings. In my opinion, starting and ending the day with a furry friend is the ideal way to go! In a client’s home, I respect the dog’s normal routine unless stated otherwise. If a routine isn’t specified, I feed the pooch twice a day and walk 2-3 times a day to start, and adjust from there depending on how they respond. Playing is also an important part of my strategy, as it develops a bond with the doggo and allows for a trusting relationship. This comes in handy when training a dog or modifying behavior/attitude, as the play creates an incentive base that is intrinsically rewarding for dogs. Additionally, I spend a lot of time talking to animals! If I’m learning something in school, or just thinking about something in general, I like to think out loud and tell my furry friends about it. They usually give me funny looks, but I think this natural conversing reinforces my voice for them. That way, they quickly identify my voice later on - knowing I’m a friend and paying attention to my commands. This is all out of love! Even when training a dog, I believe there needs to be a relationship first - acting as a foundation from which to build more appropriate behavior patterns. If I don’t respect them and meet them where they’re at, there’s no hope for a satisfying and productive interaction.

Cannot say enough nice things about Josh. This is his second time caring for our dog and 3 cats. He makes sure they all get attention and food and sends daily videos and photos/ updates. I felt at ease being gone for a week knowing my fur babies were in great hands.

Josh was the best! He constantly kept me updated with photos and videos of my fur babies and I knew they were in excellent hands! I would highly recommend him and we will be having him watch our babies again next month.

I haven’t felt this at peace with leaving my animals while out traveling in a very long time. Josh is top notch and has a gentle soul. I would highly recommend.

Josh was fantastic! My new senior rescue has terrible separation anxiety, so I needed a sitter just for an afternoon. Josh arrived exactly on time and was very understanding of my dog's needs. He was super communicative both before and during his stay, and even sent photos and a video - even though it was only a 5 hour stay! I've already booked Josh again and highly recommend him.

Information Josh C. would like to know about your pet

Knowing about your dog’s basic personality and what you expect/request of me as a caregiver is always extremely helpful! Additionally, daily routines - eating, walking, playing, etc. make it much easier for me to meet the dog halfway so that your time away is no more different or difficult for them than it has to be. Lastly, are there any special circumstances that I should be aware of - is your pooch a puppy, senior, special needs, aggressive, etc.?

A typical day

I love to play with doggos! I think rough and tumble play is a great way to bond with pooches who enjoy it (but not too rough!). Pets, fetch, and tug-of-war are classic go-to’s as well and are always included with pleasure. And of course plenty of walks and trips to nearby parks for exercise, excitement, and a change of scenery! I’ll also talk to your pooch throughout the day, keeping them in the loop with current affairs and exciting news, as well as just conversing with them casually to see how they’re really doing - deep down inside. Even our furry friends need it sometimes…
