Pet care experience
Hey there, I’m Josie! Thank you for visiting my page :) I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (Acupuncturist and Herbalist) who began offering my services on Rover while establishing my private practice in Albuquerque. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with a wide range of incredible animals and their owners, which is why I have chosen to maintain my Rover account. I grew up here in NM and have been around animals my entire life. My deep understanding and love for all creatures started to develop at a very young age a large part due to my dad who owned a pet store in Santa Fe known as Pete’s Pets! My childhood and upbringing was so amazing with the opportunities to be able to care for fish, reptiles, rodents, feeding baby birds and sugar gliders, and so many more creatures! I also learned how to take care of pets with multiple health conditions, as my God Father owned the Eldorado Veterinary Clinic when I was growing up. These experiences are at the foundation of who I am as a person. I am passionate about creating a safe, caring, loving space for all creatures! I am a firm believer in meeting your pet where they are at. Just like humans, they have their own quirks and characters, and I love being able to show pets respect, love, and create the space for them to thrive! I'm a strong communicator, so if I ever have questions, you will be sure to know. I also love sending photos/updates as to how my time with your fur baby is going- so you will always be kept in the loop about how your pet is doing. I love taking my own pets out on walks around our neighborhood, to the Bosque, and weekly hikes in Glorieta or the Foothills. I would be more then happy to take your dog on short or long hikes as well as simple little strolls around the neighborhood or to the local park! Whatever your pups pace, I am happy to match.

I have three pups at home, so at this time I am not offering to board your fur baby at my house. I am happy to pet/plant/house sit if you are going out of town and needing to make sure your home is staying secure and loved. I am incredibly respectful of peoples privacy, and am happy to chat and meet any criteria you are looking for for the care of your pet and home.

Energy of your dog/cat: I want to be able to provide the most fun and comfort for your animal. I love to know their specific preferences and wants, that way they look at our time together as a peaceful and taken care of feeling. Medications/dietary restrictions/allergies: I feel that safety is of the utmost importance. Schedule/Routine: All of our animals thrive when they are sticking to their routine (walking/mealtime/playtime/etc). As their sitter and walker, I want to emulate their normal schedule to the best of my ability. This structure will not only bring them peace of mind, but I want you to have it too. Behavior quirks: does your pup bark at other dogs on leash? Does your cat try to run out of the front door when I’m entering the house? You are not the only one! I want to be able to take preventative actions as much as I am able when with your pet. Training: Do you have your pet sit before leaving the house? Do you not allow them up on the bed? I want to be able to positively reinforce all of the hard work you are doing with your pet. Favorites: snacks, treats, toys, games, etc! I want our time together to be quality time for the both of us- let’s make it a fun and caring experience every time!
A typical day
You can know that your pet is being well taken care of! Every animal has their own personalities and preferences. I want to make sure to really help them feel safe, to have fun, and meet them where they are at that day. If your dog likes to socialize with other dogs/loves to be off leash, I love going to dog parks to let them get their dog energy out with the other pups. I also am a big hiker, so I would love to take your dog on the hikes in the Foothills. If you pup likes to stay to themselves, I am happy to embrace our one-on one time. Let's go on an adventure to their favorite neighborhood trails or neighborhood parks. If they love playing fetch, fetch it is! Tug-of-war, let the battle begin! Is your cat a bit shy? I won't force myself into their bubble. I'm here to make them feel safe, comfortable and loved, I am happy to be patient until they are ready to come to me. Is your kitten a playful one? Let the playing begin!
