Love dogs. Like people.

Pet care experience

I grew up with both cats and dogs in our family home. I have owned my own dog until last year when he sadly passed away. I loved him deeply, and dont want to replace him, but have an animal shaped hole in my life, so petsitting is perfect for me.... And for you. I will look after your fur babies as if they were my own. I will spoil them. They will walk all over me. They will live their best life on holiday with Aunty Josie.

We honestly can’t put in to words how brilliant Josie was with our boy. We previously had a long term boarder who gave up their business since COVID and ever since, we’ve struggled to find someone who we trusted enough. Upon meeting Josie, we knew this would be different. She listened to everything we had to say without judgement or preconceived ideas and was so personable and friendly. While we were away, we got so many amazing updates that they became a daily highlight not just for ourselves, but with the people we were away with, too! Our boy received such amazing care and love that we were worried he wouldn’t want to come home! We can’t wait to use Josie again and know that any dog who had the pleasure of being with her, will feel the same way. Thank you, Josie for making our boy feel like he was your own! ♥️

Fabulous! Just fabulous! Josie is a wonderful witty friendly person who clearly adores dogs and they adore her. Josie went above and beyond to ensure Pennys stay was as easy as possible for both myself and Penny. She even picked Penny up and dropped her off. Lots of pictures and messages to keep me updated with all the fun. Penny had a brilliant time and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Josie again.

Generally your dog would have run of my flat. I just keep them out of the kitchen. I have a small enclosed garden outside for quick toilet breaks. I am local to a field across the road, a park a block a way, and other interesting walks nearby. I normally take dogs out for a lengthy walk in the morning to use their energy and tire them a bit. If at home during the day, I take them out when they indicate they need out, or go for a quick block walk at lunch. Then another walk when I return from work if I've been out, just when I finish working in the evening. If your dog is nervous, I show caution around other dogs that we meet and avoid them if possible. If your dog is social, we visit my friends and their dogs who are social to have a play. I would prefer to meet you and your dog before any arrangement happens to ensure that your dog feels safe with me. If it is easier for them (and you) I can come and stay in your home and house/pet sit to keep things as normal as possible for them.

Information Josephine H. would like to know about your pet

It would be good to know if your dog is anxious, and let me know what things help your wee fur baby. If they take medication, I can give them orally but that is all. Any anxieties you have, we can talk through them.

A typical day

I will normally take your dog out first thing for a walk in the local park. If I am having to work in the office for the day, then I normally make it a longer walk to release that energy and tire them out. I will leave some stimulating treats and toys to entertain while I am away. If I am working from home, we go for another walk at lunch time and get lots of snuggles working on the couch. After work we go for another long walk in the evening. If your dog is social, we might pop in and visit a friend and their dog for a quick play. During the weekend, I love to take dogs for a drive to the beach, or to some forest walks. When at home, it's lots of snuggles and I try play games... Hide and seek, find the treats etc.

I do work full time, but I am flexible with working at home and going to the office. I can also have some travel which sees me going some distances in South Lanarkshire. If your dog enjoys car rides, I could bring them with me, then stop on our way back and find new and interesting walks for them. In the weekend, I could take them for a forest walk, or a trip to the beach. Your pets would become my sidekick and go about doing things together... Or snuggling on the couch, whatever they prefer.
