Wanna go for a walk?

Pet care experience

HI! I’m Joe! I am very grateful to have the opportunity to spend my days in the SO-CAL weather cruising my bike between appointments where I care for furry things that are always thrilled to see me!!! Minimal disruption to your and your pet's life is my goal. I strive to provide a routine that is caring, dependable, and consistent for you and your pet. Dogs & Cats are the primary animals I care for. That’s where my experience is. I am open to other pets with the appropriate notice and communication. Walking, running, reinforcing good behavior, playtime & snuggles (probably the best), feeding, water, and treats, are all things I do. I spent much of my childhood on my grandparents' small farm in northern Missouri. I grew up around animals of all types. Pets and caring for them have always been part of my life. My wife and I have now lived in Long Beach for 6 years, own an 11-year-old dog June, and a 14-year-old cat Lucille. Historically, I have always owned a pet, or two, or three, or more! : ) Additionally, I have always helped take care of friends and family pets throughout my life. Puppies, kittens, and seniors are all welcome. I have experience with the well-behaved, slow-moving, hyperactive, skeptical, or super reactive. My dogs have always behaved well, walked well, and understood the basic commands. My cat will come on command if she knows she can lay on my belly : ) I have used just about every leash and am also comfortable if your dog uses a muzzle. I have experience with post-surgery care and medication administration as well. I always care for and respect each pet as an individual. I love playing and engaging with pets, spending quiet time with them, and everything in between. I enjoy extended walks & visits. Large dogs, I can handle them.

While traveling through Belmont Shores with 3 dogs, it was a challenge to figure out how to go to Catalina for the day. I've never used Rover before and selected Joseph because he had so many positive reviews. I'm glad we did! Joseph was great with our 3 dogs He was very commutative and sent pictures throughout the day. Great first experience!

Safety, trust & environment

Most common things can be squeezed into a 30-minute walk/visit of a single pet. Water, food, etc. If you have many time-consuming needs please take them into account. Some of these may include high-rise buildings, complicated entrance processes, multiple pets, a special needs pet, and/or specific requirements that may be more time-consuming. Appropriately booking the right amount of time will always work out best for your pet : ) Safety is number one always. I will always double-check that your pet's collar/harness is fitted properly and adjust as needed. I can walk 2 large dogs and up to 3 - 4 small dogs. On hot days (90+) outdoor walk times are limited with extra time being spent inside. I always gravitate towards shade and grassy areas during walks. If they signal they are done in the heat then they are probably done. I won’t argue with them when it’s hot. I always send photos of my visit. I know everyone wants that amazing snoogly woogly photo of your little nommie nommer : ) The quantity and quality of photos will depend on a lot of factors. My number one priority is monitoring my surroundings and keeping pets safe during our walk. I’ve found there isn’t a typical visit. Every day and every request is unique. Each pet and owner have different individual needs. Ultimately my goals are to help you maintain a routine, reinforce positive behaviors, provide exercise/mental stimulation (fun time), save your floors : ), and assure your best friend is in good care. Creating a safe consistent environment for you and your pet is of the highest priority. EXTRA STUFF Bonus points for bicycle parking! Green is the way to go! I try to be car-free and work ultra-local. I will always use one of my bikes over my car. Except for severe weather (which we don't get often: ). I’m not surprised if you have seen me cruising the beachfront area on my bike from one walk to the next : ). I use recycled bags too.

Information Joseph G. would like to know about your pet

What I want to know is ever-evolving. Each pet & owner is unique in their needs. Let me know each pet's greeting preferences and personality. I want to learn about routines, likes, dislikes, special needs, behavior towards people & other animals, behaviors you want & don’t, walking style & preferences, feeding schedules treats, etc. A big one is if your pet has or is prone to be aggressive towards other people and pets. Don't worry. We’ll go over everything before your pet's first appointment. I have a questionnaire that is always being updated. I normally bring it to meet & greets, or get the information another way.

A typical day

I am happy that no day is typical in this field. Pets are unique and no appointment goes the same. All the information gathered from the owner and the current situation will always determine what happens. Cuddling, sloppy dog kisses, wiggly butts, skeptical kitties, leashes, sunshine, and good vibes are all common themes.

My primary service area is the coastal Long Beach area. South of Anaheim, east of the 710, and west of the PCH. If you're outside of this area you are still welcome to inquire. Monday - Friday 9AM - 7PM. is where my greatest availability is. You are welcome to inquire about before or after those times. I do make myself available on some weekends and select holidays too. My planned vacations are blacked out and planned well ahead enough to give my regular clients time to find a substitute. I am normally there within +/- a half-hour of our scheduled time. Repeat customers are welcome to reach out and inquire on weekends I have marked unavailable. Pop-in visits are always welcomed. I will do my best to accommodate. Weekend overnights are extra $. We can discuss it during the booking. 1st time single walk meet and greets may not be able to be scheduled on the same day.
