I would make sure they are well fed. If they have any medication id make sure they take it orally from the snout. I'd tend to check on them frequently make sure they're not doing things they shouldn't.

I would like to know if they are completely comfortable with being petted and scratched behind the ears. I'd like to be aware of any medication they may need. Are they comfertable with new people? Do they tend to be thrashful and tear things, dig holes.
A typical day
I'd make sure they've been fed for the day, and have fresh water. On our journey we will explore some of our environments where our noses guide us on our path. If it's too hot out past 86° I'd keep my furry friend in from walking for the day and walk earlier when cooler or wait until it cools down.
