VERMONT DOG HOUSE

Pet care experience

Klaus, Katie and Jonathan here! Ready and able to take care of your pup! Between the two of us we have almost a decade of dog sitting experience and would love to add your little one to our list of happy tails. Here is a little more about us… Klaus is a very friendly and calm 6 year old dachshund (not your typical dachshund!) who is up to date on all his vaccinations. He barks when people first come to the house but it's only because he wants attention. He can be a little lazy at times but would love the company of your critter! He gets at least four 15-20 minute walks a day and wouldn't mind company. He is gentle and never pushy and is good with all size and ages. Jonny, 28, has been living in Philly for over 10 years and has been a dog owner all his life. He is a professional dog walker of 5 years and he is currently employed as a full time dog walker with one of the largest dog walking companies in Philadelphia, Happy Tails of Philly and loves to bring his work home with him! He has regulars in Center City, Ritten house Square, Gratuate Hospital and South Philly and has also spent time working at Philly Dog School, a daycare. Though he loves all canine creatures, especially his little wiener dog, he has a soft spot for pugs! He has experience dealing with diabetic dogs, senior dogs and small, medium and large breeds. Just recently he has completed the American Red Cross course for cat and dogs. Katie is 29 and has lived with dogs since she was a little girl. She grew up in the country and is sure happy moving to the city years ago didn't mean giving up animal friends. She began dog sitting through her friends at Philly Dog School almost 4 years ago and now works at the company's Fairmount location. Before moving in with Jonny and Klaus she helped raise a pup nephew so she knows what patience is needed with a puppy! She has experience with all ages and sizes, as well as diabetic and epileptic dogs. She has also competed the American Red Cross cat and dog first aid course. Though they are an important part of our family, we didn't mention them before because they usually keep to themselves- our kitties; Fats and Carl. Though they mind their own business we know sometimes cats can cause anxiety when dogs know they are around. So if your little one can't relax knowing our feline friends are about, our home may not be the best fit! Sorry! Our house has hardwood floors so a pup with an occasional accident is not a big deal! We'd be happy to answer any questions not covered by this site. Hope to hear from you soon & welcome to the Dog House! Why I love dog sitting Caring for dogs have brighten our weekends! We have a pet stay with us almost every weekend. The dogs make them selves at home as they walk in the door. Klaus has so many friends because of it. It also improved his behavior as a dachshund. We hope to continue caring for your animals for years to come. Meet my pets Fats- a husky Tuxedo cat who prefers to be napping under the bed or in a drawer if one of the humans forgets to shut it. He's lived with dogs off and on since he was a kitten. He's pretty uninterested in Klaus and other canine visitors, even though they often sleep in our bed together. But if a pup does rush as him he will stand his ground and swat. Carl- don't let the name fool you, she is one sassy lady. This Russain blue/ tabby mix loves to know whats going on at all times. She can be quite the little puppy flirt and enjoys perching up high and taunting the dogs below. Klaus and her often nap in the bed together. About my yard We have a cute little cement back yard with high walls and two flower beds. It's not the biggest but it gets the job done when you want some fresh air and provides a little extra playing room. My experience administering medication We have watched a number of dogs with a variety of ailments ranging from stitches and drains to diabetes, sprained shoulders to recently neutered pups. Please let us know if your pet has any special medical needs, that way during the meet and greet we can thoroughly go over everything.

My senior pup Honey had a great time staying with Jonathon & Katie. She quickly made herself at home and made friends with their pup Klaus. They were provided a comfy home away from home for her and stuck to all of her home routines and medications so she was happy & healthy when I returned to pick her up several days later. She had the biggest smile on her face all the way home! I'll definitely be using Jonathon & Katie in the future for all of my dog-sitting needs in Philly! Thanks guys :)

Safety, trust & environment

We dont have a fenced in play area in the yard yet. For the safety of the dog we walk the dogs on leash. The living room is where the fun usually happens. The dogs have full range of the house while we are home. When we have to leash for an hour or two, we have dog gates and large crates depending on the situation. We usually trust the pups that stay with us.

While your dog is with us they will be treated to at least 4 walks a day. We live very close to a nice park in Girard Estates, which we like to take Klaus to at least once a day, weather permitting. Whilst at the house we wold love to play fetch, tug-o-war or just cuddle with your little one.
