I have cared for dogs for 38 years

Pet care experience

38 years ago I fell in love with my future wife, then I fell in love with her black Lab Abby. We then had our Elkhound/German Shepherd Sam for 13 of his 14 years, followed by Sunny the white Lab. We found out that Sunny was diabetic at 9 and even though she was partially blind, she lived a rich 14 years. We rescued Alvin the chocolate Pit-Lab almost 8 years ago. He lived a very happy life with us and we had to seriously care from him 3 times. He had a very treatable cancer that was totally removed but took a couple of late nights caring for him. He was very healthy till he came down with a neurological disease that brought us to a "quality of life" situation. We said goodbye a week before Christmas and it was a good decision. I've always loved dogs and with my training as an EMT, I'm good at caring for dogs physically and emotionally. I've had to care for all our dogs and I'm good in critical situations, which rarely but do happen at times. My wife and I have helped friends who rescue dogs & have helped to foster a few. Zeus was a 15 year old purebred American Staffy who was the best houseguest while he was with us. We also provide B&B services & have taken in a few to help out. They make my heart & brain smile, a very good feeling.

Safety, trust & environment

We've had a dog-friendly home as long as I've been in a relationship with my wife as we've always had a dog to share care for. Our new addition Luna is such a joy as she is the most dog-friendly dog we've had since Sunny, our other Lab. We are 1 dog at a time people & I've learned a lot in my time together with my wife along with a lotta shared love for our dogs. I also have seen emergency situations with my own dogs & know how to remain calm myself to assess & resolve it quickly. And my own regular physical activity helps insure that I'm prepared for whatever could arise, I like my happiness to add to their's.

Information Jonathan B. would like to know about your pet

I like to know about dogs habits, what they like and don't like as well as how much concern they can have when you're not around. I've always had medium/large dogs and enjoy walking/hiking with them. I've known and loved dogs of all sizes, I prefer pups with balanced enthusiasm.

A typical day

I like to look at Google maps to see the neighborhood of a client and what looks good to explore. My dog Alvy came close to demanding to play at times, so I've done a lot of throwing, chasing and playing with lots of toys.

My wife & I both have our own businesses & are good at covering for each other. I've been enjoying how well my work fits with my life with each of us sharing the care & attention for our dogs. I know the area well having been a landscape foreman in my early career, it still serves me well in being on time as needed for the job.
