Riverside Retreat for small dogs

Pet care experience

We are retirees who love dogs! Both of us have had dogs for over 35 years. We have a 2 year old Cavapoo who is extremely social with dogs and people. Abby is currently working on becoming a therapy dog. We have used a sitter from Rover for the past 18 months, and now we have the time to give your pup a retreat while you are away from home. As a retired nurse, I miss taking care of people, so I would be honored to care for your little one (under 15-20 lbs)! We will be taking up to a maximum of 2 dogs at a time, so your pup will gets lots of love and attention from both of us! Puppies under 1 year are welcome. We will be glad to continue working with your pup for potty training. (Additional charge for pups not potty trained) Give your pup a “play date” and book a day care. Socialization is so important!

Magnificent sitters! Jon & Stacey are warm-hearted and extremely knowledgeable. Lovely home. Their dog Abbey is a sweetheart and made Gertie feel very comfortable. They communicated clearly with updates via text, pictures and videos. Gertie took quickly to Jon & Stacey as they are very interactive and caring. Definitely worth the peace of mind.. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jon & Stacey and Gertie will absolutely return to their care again!

Did your favorite team win the Super Bowl? Did you ever win big at the casino? Did you find a beautiful little being with 4 legs who you love to no end? Well, then you hit the jackpot! And, that’s what it felt like when I found Jon and Stacey…I hit the jackpot in dog sitters or, like I call them…my dog guardian angels! I am a lawyer and I am very particular as to whom I would let take care of my little furry family members. I haven’t used a dog sitter in years since my best friend did the job immaculately. Well, when I spoke with Jon and Stacey, I knew that they were the ones who I would chose to watch my little dogs. The surpassed all of my expectations. They are loving, compassionate, intelligent, thoughtful, and detailed-oriented guardians who not only care tremendously about giving your animals the best experience, they ensure that you feel secure and safe at all times. I immediately felt connected to both Jon and Stacey as did my dogs. Their little Abbey gets along with everyone so my dogs had an immediate new friend. They sent wonderful videos and pictures which confirmed that I chosen the best dog guardians as I could tell that my dogs were happy and safe. They don’t stop caring after your animals leave their care. They went beyond the call a duty when I needed their advice and help upon my return. I can’t even tell you how much they helped me. Stacey, being a retired Nurse Practitioner, has a wealth of knowledge and experience and Jon is intelligent and a rock when you need him. Clearly, I could go on and on. Simply put, you need not look anywhere else. These are your people. These are your animals’ people. These are my and my dogs' people!

Experience with Jon and Stacey was amazing for both me and my dog Boo. They took an amazing care of her. My dog spent just 2 hours with them, but it was still stressful for me, Jon and Stacey sent me bunch of photos with descriptions of her behavior and it was so helpful. Highly recommend these people, as they will find approach to any dog.

Information Jon & Stacey S. would like to know about your pet

We would like to keep their schedule as close to the one at home. We ask a lot of questions at the meet and greet to ensure you have peace of mind leaving your pet. If there are any special requests like hand feeding, walk times, nap times, etc. just let us know! Let us know about any behaviors that will help us care for your pup.

A typical day

We strongly believe that mental stimulation is as important as physical exercise. Our dog continues to attend play dates and training exercises. We have many puzzles that your pup can play with for their mental stimulation. We also play “find it” games and review basic commands every day in a playful environment. We have learned many games from our trainer that we will use with your pup! We will take your pup on outings to the river, walks to the park, “sniff walks” which are very beneficial for mental stimulation. We love to play ball and different games in the backyard.
