Pet care experience
Hi there! I’m Jon. Besides taking care of my amazing hound mix, Hope, I’ve taken care of a wide range of dogs, from rambunctious months-old pups who need extra attention to partially-blind old grumps who might need encouragement just to get out of the doggie bed. I have been dog-sitting and cat-sitting for friends and family for as long as I can remember, and I am always sure to be attentive, careful, and communicative about caring for the needs and special circumstances of our furry best friends. I can’t wait to meet yours!
Reviews
Highly recommend Jon as a dog walker! Jon does a great job with both of our dogs, is reliable, is a great communicator and takes fun photos every day. We’re lucky to be working with him!

I've taken care of dogs with weak stomachs, dogs who are escape artists, and dogs who can sometimes be just a little too smart or too not-so-smart for their own good. I have a fenced yard and keep a close eye on my own dog inside and outside the house. Your crates will be double-checked, your gate-jumpers will be redirected, and your nervous chewers will be soothed with an appropriate dog toy to gnaw on rather than your furniture. I'm happy to send plenty of pictures so that you can rest easy knowing your dog is healthy and content.
Information Jon M. would like to know about your pet
All dogs are good dogs! I have no breed preferences and have experience with all types of dogs, but I do have some extra experience handling medium sized dogs, dogs with hip problems, and dogs with black or otherwise dark fur who might need special attention in hot sun. In my experience, there’s little we can learn about dogs that they won’t tell us themselves, but when planning ahead and thinking about safety, I like to know how well a dog gets along with other dogs, cats, children, men, and women, since these can all uniquely affect what areas they would enjoy walking the most and how interactions with other animals and people should be navigated. I would also love to know what commands your dog might know or any you may be interested in having them learn, and what nicknames you might have for your dog that they might respond to. Beyond that and any health concerns, we all love talking about our pets, so share anything you’d like to tell!
A typical day
It all depends on the dog! I live just a block from a lovely dog park for your runners and socializers, as well as a quaint little hiking trail for your explorers and your dogs who prefer not to interact with other dogs. Of course, everything depends on what the owner and the dog(s) are comfortable with! Short walks or walks closer to home can certainly be more comfortable for some dogs. When staying with a dog, I think the same approach is best. Your dog may love cuddling on the couch or on the floor, play tug-of-war over their favorite toy, learn a new trick or command for a treat, or pretend I don’t exist until it’s time for food or a walk. Whatever your dog or dogs likes to do when they’re being themselves, I’m happy to take on the role they need.

Availability
I am currently working part-time outside of Rover with a fairly flexible schedule. I'm often available on short notice or at odd hours if needed, and I'm happy to work with your schedule (and your pups) to find the best fit.
