I always had a dog as a child. My dog Rocky, a black lab/german shepard mix was epileptic. I still miss Rocky sometimes. We took good care of him. I administered medication orally and was always there for him after he had a seizure. I discovered that he liked to lick ice cubes following an episode. Rocky was healthy otherwise and a giant bundle of energy. My sister and I would love to take him for runs and long walks, and in the summer walks that were more nature oriented. As an adult I have taken care of my friends dogs and especially my sisters dog Ernie, a 100 pound English lab. She travels quite a bit for work so Ernie and I spend plenty of time together. I am an older adult student and am taking a year off so my availability is pretty great. I love all dogs and they always love me. My special skills are communicating with dogs by talking to them and engaging them in what we are doing (as an example: if a loud truck or siren goes by I will say "Hey Rosie that is a loud noise huh, good it is now gone. -or- ok Rosie this sidewalk is a little slippery, just like yesterday so let us cross the street). I think communication with the owner and dog and my overall warmth with animals makes me a great dog walker.
