9 acre farmstyle home w/active dogs

Pet care experience

UPDATE: DUE TO A FIRE AT OUR HOME, WE ARE SHUT DOWN AND STAYING WITH FAMILY IN CT. WE CAN ONLY OFFER WALKS OR HOUSE SITTING FOR SUMMER 2023 (with our two dogs). FOLLOW OUR IG @collieandhoundny to check out our place, some of the regulars and a general day with the pack. Existing clients receive previous rates. New rates are due to insane demand that we cannot meet as well as costs (Rover takes 20%, new IRS rules mean 15 or even 22%, fence (comes to $5/booking across 2500bookings), lawn care, home/item damage, maintenance, fun dog stuff etc) - 2023 may be the last year we accept new clients - Just finished fencing in a few acres for the dogs but we still prefer dogs that don’t need one or will come in when called - CAN PROVIDE CONSTANT ACTIVITY - TONS OF PHOTOS - ALMOST ALWAYS HOME - Come check out property any time if interested or just wait to drop your dog off yourself! Justine is also confirmed by Rover for my account, with an enhanced background check. This is also her profile, which we used to use, with more reviews- https://www.rover.com/sit/justim27519 We'll treat your dogs like guests in our home, and take care of them however you direct and prefer. I’m taking time away from work to focus on starting businesses from home (as of 2022 this has become another full time one!) (We have a nice home on 9 acres, down an isolated road, and I spend a lot of the day outside with our border collies who roam freely. We are very active and take hiking trips whenever we don’t have many dogs, but usually we’re pretty full and they get their exercise out here. We don’t take dogs that have to be on a leash now that we have the fence. You can leave your dog here knowing they will get everything they need and I will follow all of your instructions exactly. If you prefer, we won’t give your dog any treats other than what you provide. We’re accustomed to dealing with different dogs' issues. Our hound always had anxiety and our border aussie suffers from occasional seizures. We’ll work with your dogs needs to provide them whatever they need. All the dogs we’ve had have felt free here and none seem to care about running off. It’s like when you bring a dog to the countryside and they immediately relax and feel at peace. Sorry all these details are all over the place but we’re constantly changing and updating.

John & Justine took extra special care of my elderly dog. They took lots of pictures and provided great communication while I was traveling. I highly recommend John & Justine and will schedule them again in the future! ?

It was our first time with John as our regular dog sitter had a family emergency. We are excited to have discovered John as he is a trustworthy, dependable, and caring sitter. John is communicative, responsive and easy to work with. He was flexible with drop off and pick up times. We did a meet and greet ahead of time and his probing questions with our pup showed his level of attentiveness. John’s large fenced in yard is indicative of the meticulous care he takes to ensure that all the pups are safe. He is a genuine dog lover! John always took the time to update us on how Luna was doing every day. It was great to see adorable pictures of our baby girl during her stay, and be clued in as to her behavior and how she was doing which put us at ease. When we picked Luna up, it was clear she had a great time and had been in very good hands. Thank you for taking such good care of our Luna!

John and Justine created such a warm and inviting space for our senior dog. They took great care to ensure she, their dogs, and those that they watch would all get along and feel comfortable. The property is gorgeous with lots of space to explore and play. We look forward to the next time they watch our dog and have already booked a return visit for this month.

The area we stay around is mostly surrounded by shrubs and wooded area. We always have an eye on dogs we take in. Every dog is different and we can handle their needs! All about the dogs all day every day whenever I’m not busy. They’ll only ever be stuck inside an hour or two at a time, depending on weather! We have a home which we can divide in half, as well as a spare room to give dogs some separation if needed, whether due to different personalities needing a break at times or just to feed meals or sleep wherever they’re most comfortable. We cap the amount of outside dogs we take at 6. We find this is a perfect amount as they all have someone or a group to get along with and entertain themselves, while also having enough space. Any more and there are too many personalities and you can get some pack mentality. All dogs have different boundaries and with this size of a pack they are respected. We can be somewhat flexible on going over by 1-2 for the day for existing clients. We have air tags we put on new dogs collars just in case

Information John & Justine C. would like to know about your pet

temperment, exercise needs, schedule, health/medical info (core vaccinations required), vet info, do they get along with other dogs, diet info, behaviors and triggers, instructions and preferences. Off leash or on? OCCASIONALLY TAKE NEW MALE DOGS (our older collie doesn’t like males after his experiences at dog parks and herds them and nips them like sheep, especially if they try and take his frisbee! Nothing serious though and he actually loves if other dogs are around, if he has space). Please bring a bed if your dog uses one. We generally can’t take dogs over 75 lbs. NO BUCKLE COLLARS ALLOWED!

A typical day

Runs and hikes, fetch, frisbee, soccer, basketball, relaxing outside and around the house...our puppy Maggie never stops! We can do anything depending on the type of dog. We can walk/run around the yard, drive to a walking path, or to hiking trails. If your dog prefers to be on the couch or outside sunbathing, that’s fine with us! We’re constantly trying to update and do new things to the property as we can

I work from home so I spend most of my time with the dogs regardless of what I’m doing. Justine works M-F 9-5 so will spend her other hours loving them! Throughout the day I let the dogs out to run around after each other and relieve themselves... some days I’ll devote hours at a time to them, whether playing outside or going on a hike. If I’m doing work around the property I let them out with me. Justine works M-F 9-5 but otherwise will be here, giving the dogs all the love they can get.
