Retired Army K9 Handler

Pet care experience

I am a newly retired Military Police/Working Dog Handler who is originally from Colorado Springs. I have a wide variety of dog training experiences including obedience, detection, and veterinary care. I transitioned to K9 in the Army after two deployments as an Military Policeman because I simply love working with dogs. I served two more deployments as a K9 handler in my Army career as well as was stationed overseas working with NATO and international K9/Police forces. Caring for your dog means I will not only provide the necessary interaction, both social and physical, that dogs need to avoid negative behavior when their "pack" isn't home, but I will also ensure your home is continuously safe and secure for your peace of mind and for your pet.

Information John C. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences. I'm especially comfortable around large breeds of dogs that have high drive and energy. However, I am very attentive and aware of other breeds and personalities of dogs that may just need a friend to simply walk with and be loved on. I will need to know if the dog has an aggressive history, if so this will require several meetings prior to care. Eating habits, favorite toys, what excites your dog is very important. What is your dog's routine? When do you usually walk the dog? Is there a familiar path you always take and or dog prefers? Understanding the dog's disposition is very important to ensure quality care.

A typical day

Walking paths will all depend on the neighborhood and the dog itself. Being that I'm former K9 I'm extremely used to working with high energy dogs that need challenged, therefore if there's space and availability for more interaction than walking I will gladly do that. I can work on obedience training, one on one, with the dog (and owner which is very important!!) if requested. I genuinely enjoy the challenge of training dogs and advancing their natural skills and abilities. I am happy to give feedback on the dog's training personality if requested and am willing to engage in further training sessions if interested.
