Pet care experience
Hi There, "Retired" preschool teacher here, getting into something new! I'm a caregiver and nurturer at heart, and after 8 years of working with young children, I'm exploring the other area of my life where I can provide care and nurture: pets. I'm experienced in a wide variety of pet care, including dogs (puppy-senior), cats (kittens-senior), chickens, and rabbits. As a child I grew up in the country and we always had a variety of animals and that trend never stopped. I can hardly remember a time not having a pet in my life. As an adult, I've helped many a friend and family member care for their pets (and homes) while they've been away. This past spring my family said goodbye to our family dog, Maddy (named after Madeline Island) a St. Bernard that lived until age 13. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Don't be shy, send me a message! Johanna was lovely! Timely communication, photos, and quality care. I felt like my pup was in very good hands.
Johanna and her family took excellent card of our furry kid Carly! I could tell when we picked up Carly that she was happy and relaxed. She went back up to Johanna for a good bye and gave Johanna a head rub which is a big sign of affection for Carly. We got frequent pictures and updates while we were gone which made our vacation all the more enjoyable. We will absolutely book with Johanna again, (hopefully before everyone else realizes how wonderful they are with our furry family members!)

I have a fenced in backyard and an easy area for dog walking. I also live near parks, fields and the Mississippi River for walks and exercise. I live with my husband who works from home, and daughter who attends school locally, so expect that they will be around. We have two rabbits that stay in my daughters closed off bedroom on our second level. Please note that both my husband and daughter (13) adore pets and treat them with the same level of care and attention that I would give them. If owners have specific requests or questions, please let me know so we can work together to provide the best experience for your pet.

A typical day
I love to get out and explore new areas of the neighborhood with your pet. Daily walks are one of my favorite ways to ensure dogs needs are met. For dogs and cats, they'll both receive treats (if allowed), and undivided, individualize attention. I do not host more than one client at our home at the same time, as we prefer to keep things on the calmer side around our house.

Availability
As a "retiree" transitioning from education to Rover, I am currently available full time for pet sitting. We're a pretty low key family so between my husband and myself we're generally around and tend to do things around the house like; yard work, baking, diy projects, watching a movie, and going on walks, drink coffee, etc. If you have specific needs or concerns regarding scheduling please feel free to ask! I do my very best to accommodate individual needs and care requests, and am lucky to work and live with supportive and flexible people.
