Pet care experience
I love dogs. I don't care what size or shape, how loud or quiet, how cuddly or crazy. I grew up with a dog in my home, a black lab. He was a puppy, and I was a toddler. We grew up together and he had to endure all my affection and attention. Unfortunately he passed on almost 5 years ago and I've wanted to be around more dogs ever since. With pets, I have no personal bubble. Whether by my side or in my face, I love the pups just the same! I have stayed in many homes with dogs and I understand that each person may have different rules and boundaries regarding what their dog can and can't do, but when I'm unsure, I like to lean on the side of grace. After all, it's no good to send mixed signals to your pooch, punishing them for acceptable behavior. I can be quite flexible with your dog's needs, whether he needs to play for a couple hours or just get out and run. I hope to be just what you're looking for and would love be to be an extra pair of helping hands!

I am happy to care for your dog at your home or out at a park. School policy mandates no pets in our apartments, but that will not keep me from going off campus to find some furry friends

I love to know what the dog's eating schedule is, how often they need to use the restroom, their level of training, and if they have any particular toys they love. Also being aware of bad habits is helpful so I can either avoid those situations or help work with the dog to change those behaviors. If there are particular behaviors you would like me to encourage in your dog, I would love to know so I can work on those things.. Along with meals, I like to know if the dog ever eats human food and what is acceptable for them to have as far as treats.
A typical day
I love playing active games with dogs. Toys and treats are a great way to build trust with dogs, but are not necessary for a good time! I always prioritize encouraging my dogs for good behavior and I will more often reward dogs with words rather than food. Taking dogs to open fields where we can run or where they can chase a toy is also something I love to do, but I need to make sure that they dog will obey and return.

I am currently a full time student at Wheaton College. I have a regular schedule during each semester and if we find a time that works, you can count on me to prioritize 'dog time'!
