Apart from having pets all my life (dogs, cats, birds, you name it!), I have extensive experience with care, training, and research of various species ranging from primates to sharks to dogs. My large array of experience allows me an excellent perspective on pet care. Below I will go into detail about some of the experiences that allow me to be exemplary pet care taker. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! Also, if training is something you may be interested in, let me know! Beginning in high school, I volunteered at local animal shelters. This eventually blossomed my love for animals and led me to where I am today! Once in college I began interning at PAWS Chicago. This allowed me hands-on experience with dogs and cats. While in college, I also volunteered at the Shedd Aquarium and the Lincoln Park Zoo. A little over two years ago, I graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology, Summa Cum Laude. With this degree I hope to pursue higher education in comparative psychology and/or animal behavior. From September 2016-January 2017, I was an intern within the Behavioral and Enrichment department at the Lincoln Park Zoo. During this internship, I learned extensively about operant conditioning training. If training is something you are interested in, please let me know and we can discuss this at our meet and greet! Shortly after, I became an intern in another department at the Lincoln Park Zoo. As a research intern, I worked within the Lester E. Fisher Center for the Study and Conservation of Apes (located in the ape house) to take behavioral data of the Japanese macaques as well as work on behavioral research projects. Currently, I am a full-time research assistant at the Brookfield Zoo. I am apart of the animal welfare team and work on a number of different projects that assess the well-being of the animals at the zoo as well as at other institutions. With this job I work Monday-Friday 9-5.
