Genuine Love&Care for Our Furbabies

Pet care experience

I have been around animals all of my life. Helping my mom with ours at home to volunteering back at the animal shelter in our home town with the dogs and cats. I’ve always been the type to want to help out anyway that I could with any animal no matter their situation or species. I’ve always been good with animals, especially dogs. I’ve trained ours back at home in GA, 6 dogs of all different breeds. From big to small, the breeds were: Red nosed pit bull, Lab, husky, retriever, Winchester terrier, chug (chihuahua and pug mix). I not only potty trained them all but I also taught them commands. My husband and I just recently moved to New Mexico from Georgia not too long ago and we ended up adopting a German shepherd/beagle mix from petsmart, who just recently turned 2 and a half, never had a home of his own, never was potty trained, was accident prone, and also had SEVERE separation anxiety. Poor guy huh? Well I am proud to say that he has come a very long way and now has no separation anxiety when being away from us, my husband and I, and no longer has accidents in the house or out in public. He’s very well behaved. We never had to take him to take special classes like petsmart insisted we should do when we first got him. Instead I taught him at home in my own way, which was first by getting to know HIM, his characteristics, his personality and special traits that make him, HIM. I got to know him and found out what his favorite treats were, along with favorite toy, and I was patient with him. Although he was a lot older than what I was used to, to teaching these commands and potty training to, I was still patient and I believe that any dog and or animal in general is worth saving and no matter the age, with the right diligence and care, they can learn anything and reach their true full potential as being the best companion that one could ever possibly be! I’ve never met a dog I couldn’t get through to and not be able understand them and help them truly. I feel as though it’s in my nature to want to help them in any way that I can. Caring for them is the one of most rewarding things I could possibly do, in all honesty. I’ve not only helped train animals but I have experience in nursing those who have been hurt or have been sick, back to compete health. I am experienced in giving care to those who need special medication to heal or to stop the pain. It breaks my heart when I see one in pain or is suffering, so just by helping them out one at a time, for me, is enough to get me through the day, knowing I tried and did my best and helped them, is enough for me. I love animals of all sorts with all of my heart. From dogs and cats to birds, fish, gerbils, hamsters, raccoons, deer, and even turtles. In my experience I have cared for many of God’s creatures in my own way and helped them in any way that I could. What sets me apart from other sitters on this site is that I do believe that it’s my driven desire to help and care for those who can’t always do it for themselves, I am more than willing to ALWAYS go that extra mile for anyone or anything if I know that I am helping them and doing good towards/for them. I care like no other and my heart and will power to help is truly all genuine. I would not type all of this out, if I didn’t truly mean what I am saying right here and now.

Safety, trust & environment

Well it is just my husband, our doggo and my myself who lives in our 3 bedroom place. We live on base at the Kirtland AFB. We have a small fenced in yard, we normally just take our kiddo to the park down the road and play there for an hour or so and walk in the shade or when the sun isn’t at its hottest during the day. I always say, “if you wouldn’t walk out barefoot today then don’t make them!” We have plenty of side walk roads with shade and parks surrounding us. Our neighbors are kind and have dogs of their own but they’re inside ones that normally I don’t ever see when we go out but they are very sweet. We go out on daily walks/runs twice a day. Park at least once a day and I try my absolute best to interact and play as much as I can.

Information Jocelyn G. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know what his or her personality is like, likes/dislikes, anything I need to monitor or be aware of, of course. Food or any allergies at all. How well do they get along with other dogs or strangers like myself? Would it best for a meet and greet beforehand? I feel as though those are the best way to go when taking care or watching over a new furbaby, as long as it’s okay with the parents of course!

A typical day

Walks in the parks, play fetch/tug of war/tag, go for a run if the dog is perhaps energetic and needs to run off some energy! Maybe meet new friends along the way even!
