Well Exercised Dogs are Happiest!
Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Joanne. After volunteering for five years at a local animal shelter, I'd like to expand my experience to walking or caring for dogs and cats through Rover! I am a past proud owner of a 17 1/2 yr old blind beagle/hound mix shelter dog named Toby, who recently passed. Toby went blind when he was 4 yrs old, so I had to learn to administer eye meds for additional eye issues as well as learn to train and live with a disabled dog. Raising a blind dog required me to gain additional patience and training techniques to ensure his safety and well being beyond what's necessary in a dog without a disability. I'd like to provide dog walking or doggie daycare at my condo, which has a designated dog walking path and is dog friendly. I also enjoy taking dogs to local places for long walks such as Break heart in Saugus or the Fells for short hikes. I am available nights and weekends, but also every Friday anytime of day. I am not available on Sundays unless it's after 5:00 p.m. Additionally I can provide in home visits either providing meals, medications or play time in the comfort of a dog or cats home. I'm a very active person who enjoys being outdoors as much as possible either walking, going for runs or hiking. I'm available to do any of these activities with your dogs as I believe a well exercised dog is the happiest, healthiest and the most well behaved. I look forward to meeting your fur babies.
Reviews
Joanne was awesome! It's so evident that she cares for animals, and she sent us updates with pictures during each visit. I would 100% trust her with our fuzzies again.
Joanne walked our dog while my wife was I. Travel. It couldn’t have gone better. I will definitely book her again.
Excellent cat-sitter - very communicative, highly reliable and most importantly our cat loved spending time with her- will definitely use as primary sitter going forward!
Joanne was so thoughtful and thorough in taking care of my little dog!

I believe regular exercise is the key to a dog's good behavior, so please know I try to get your dog outside as much as possible. I also feel consistency and a schedule help a dog know what to expect which can help make them a happy confident pet. As a result, I try to keep a dog to whatever schedule a pet parent already has in place when possible.

Information Joanne Z. would like to know about your pet
I find it helpful for pet parents to tell me what their dogs are allowed to do in their own home, ie. are they allowed on the furniture, where do they sleep, what is their feeding schedule like, etc. Most importantly, I like to know if a dog has leash aggression, is fine interacting with other dogs and/or strangers and if they have any fears such as loud noises, trucks, motorcycles. This information helps ensure the safety of your pet as well as others. Over all I usually keep them away from other dogs until I can learn their behaviors and I know that it's safe to allow them to say hello to other dogs.
A typical day
I enjoy training dogs as I feel it keeps their brains stimulated and interested in the world around them. Not to mention it creates a much better behaved dog, who people will enjoy being around. If there are certain tricks or behaviors you are working on with your dog, I'd love to hear them. I enjoy hiking, so if you think your dog would as well, we can go on hikes while on leash at either Breakheart Reservation or the Fells.

Availability
Since I work full time I'm unable to take care of pets at my home from Mon through Thurs, but I don't work on Fridays, so I can provide any service Fridays through Saturday nights or early Sunday mornings. I work on Sundays, so I'm unable to provide doggie daycare that day.
