Pet care experience
We made the move from North Vancouver to Penticton in July of 2022 and love it here. We live in a gated community which is safe and secure and the dogs here are very friendly. Since our dog Zeus passed in January of 2020 and we have no desire to replace him at this time, I'm able to take care of your dog as I would my own. Because of the bylaws in our complex, we are only allowed to have one dog so unfortunately if you have 2 dogs, I won't be able to help you. It is really important that a meet and greet take place before the actual boarding so please keep that in mind. I don't accept spur of the moment bookings unless it's for a meet and greet. I'm sure we'll be able to work together and be flexible on what rules you have for our guest. I also like to send progress reports with photos and videos so that you can enjoy your trip even more knowing that they're in great hands.

Joanne took care of our rescue dog Finnegan, a terrier x , while my partner and I vacationed in Belize for 2 weeks in November 2017. I was hesitant to leave him, as we had rescued him only a few months earlier. While we were gone, Joanne sent me regular emails and pictures, and let me know Finny was doing really well. He got long walks in the forest every day, and healthy treats made by Joanne. Since then Finn has stayed with Joanne several more times and I'm so relieved to have found a place where I know he'll be treated like a member of her family. I HIGHLY recommend Joanne, as her warmth, caring and humour are amazing, and Finny and I have both gained a friend.
Joanne provided superb live-in care for our dog, Browser, for over 30 days while we vacationed in Europe. After several initial meetings, I found her to be a professional and caring dog owner with a dog friendly home and a well-secured yard. She is a canine enthusiast with a wealth of knowledge on the subject. I had every confidence that Browser would be well cared for before leaving for my travels. While we were abroad, Joanne sent pictures and videos of Browser to me periodically and when the time came to bring him home, Browser was happy to see me though not in any hurry to leave! It was obvious that he is content in Joanne’s home.”

As I do have a knee problem, I prefer to board smaller breeds like Chihuahuas, Maltipoos, Shih Tzus who like to take easy walks and play in the yard and house. Dogs who pull at the leash is a definite no. I also would prefer not to board dogs under the age of 7 unless they are well trained. Also being house trained is an absolute requirement.
A typical day
I care a lot about the dog I host in every way, especially in what they eat. Some customers allow me to prepare my own cooked dog food if there aren't any food issues with their dog and they clean out the bowl as it's so delicious and nutritious. I also have a lot of experience dealing with raw food should your dog eat raw. Healthy food along with clean water, attention and mild to moderate exercise makes for a great day.

As my husband and I are both retired we're here for your dog unless we go out shopping together and that's about 2-4 hours away.
