Professional care in 5* doggy house and garden

Pet care experience

💕 Your dog is not *just* a dog but one of your family! We know this because we LOVE dogs, and have had dogs for over 40 years! In our house, your dog will feel like they're part of OUR family, loved and cuddled, looked after, and tended to - just like you would do if you were there yourself! 💕 👍 Our Experience: My husband and I have a passion and experience with dog care and handling that has lasted for over 40 years. There is always one and often both of us at home, 24/7. No guest dogs are ever left alone. We have always had dogs ourselves, typically rescue dogs. We work closely with local police forces and have offered a permanent retirement home for police dogs for over 10 years now, and it goes without saying we are approved police dog handlers. Joanne also trained as an instructor under Richard Clarke, who featured as a judge on the TV show "Dog Borstal" and the owner of "Barking Mad" dog training schools. Having struggled to find help for our own dogs, we decided to offer the type of care, attention, and security that we would want for our own dogs! Our house and garden are of course 100% secure and very dog friendly, and would love to welcome your four-legged friend into our spacious home where they would be treated as one of our own family. There is a large and mature garden where your dogs can play, along with ample fields within a very short walking distance for longer walks. We are of course happy to offer stimulating play with searches and tracking in addition to fetch! We welcome (and in fact, encourage!) a visit for you to see our home, garden, and environment to put your mind at rest prior to any booking. Our house is an ‘old build' so cool inside in the summer, and we also have a doggy paddling pool in the summer! The main rooms are air-conditioned and of course, centrally heated for comfort. Due to having our own dogs, unfortunately, we cannot accept small dogs (so dogs under 10kgs), and we don’t accept really young dogs/puppies (under 18 months old).

Bear had such a brilliant time he didn't want to leave when we came to collect him!! Having a dog who is nervous/anxious it was incredibly important we found someone for him who would put him at ease and give him lots of love and we've certainly found that with Joanne and Russ! It was great to get little updates during Bears stay and Riley has well and truly made it onto the besties list for Bear! Bear can't wait for his next stay and we highly recommend them to anyone!!!!

Joanne and Russ were wonderful! They are clearly experienced dog owners/handlers. They gave my dog Scout plenty of time and space to meet their dogs and didn’t bat an eye at giving Scout her daily medication. Scout was so excited to go back to day care each morning because she had fun playing with the pack and got lots of love from Joanne and Russ. We’ll definitely be back!

Malford has stayed with Jo and Ross many times now and has just got back from a 2 weeks stay - he loves his second home! I always leave Malford with the confidence that he is going to be extremely well looked after and cared for and get all the cuddles he needs (and demands). Thank you so much! Malford will be back soon!

Leo enjoyed his first day care experience at Joanne’s. He came back happy and nicely exhausted after playing with Joanne’s dogs. He got plenty of socialisation and was very well looked after.

🦺 Safety: We have a mature garden that is fully fenced or walled to at least 6ft high. The garden gate is full height and kept padlocked 24/7. We have both extensive outdoor CCTV cameras covering all areas of the property, and indoor cameras to monitor doggy movements wherever they are! We have a room that we can dedicate to your dog as a 'guest bedroom' so they feel secure and have their own space. We also have a variety of crates available if your dog is used to being crated overnight. Should the absolute worst happen, we are certified dog first aiders and able to provide immediate care for any pet with us, and of course we can transport to the vets if needed.

Information Joanne D. would like to know about your pet

Once a booking is confirmed, I have a questionnaire that I'll send to you that asks all about your normal routine as well as any medical needs, allergies, or behavior issues that I may need to know about. An up-to-date vaccination certificate and in-date kennel cough are required for all bookings so please make sure to have those to hand when you confirm a booking.

A typical day

We have a large garden as well as local fields within a short walking distance. We can easily play searches and retrieve, teach tricks or work on obedience at home, whilst walks not only provide general exercise, but also an opportunity for tracking and more energetic ball play if that's your dogs thing!

Availability

🦮 Daily Schedule: Both my husband and I work from home full-time, where we have an air-conditioned office where the dogs can join us. We typically walk and have breakfast around 7am and then again around 7pm. Mid-day is normally training time, where we will use more mental stimulation to engage with the dogs with searches or obedience work. Before bed, the dogs get a 'dentastick' treat as their cue it's bedtime, and then go to their favorite bed to sleep. We can be flexible around individual dog needs for walks and playtime. Schedules can be personalised as needed for older and younger dogs.
