Pet care experience
I have owned pets all of my life. I personally have 2 dogs (one that is ~40# and just turned 8yr old, and one that is ~110# and just turned 2yrs) and 2 cats (one that is friendly and one that hates people), as well as 40+ chickens. I have been a Veterinary Tech assistant since 2016 and am use to taking care of all ages of furry babies and giving medications if need be. I can do basic training for puppies (sit, stay, laydown, potty training, not pulling on the leash) I also can feed and water farm animals ( that is not offered as a service on rover but it should be)
Reviews
Joan did a wonderful job checking in on my cats and making sure they had fresh food, water, and clean litterboxes. Joan gave me the ability to enjoy my trip while having peace of mind that my cats were safe and clean. Thank you so much Joan!
Joan is a terrific pet/farm sitter. She is my go to person when I have to be out of town to take care my animals. I have a 30 acre homestead with lots of chores that includes taking care of 2 dogs, 2 cats,9 chickens and pet duck. They are not the easiest to care for. My dog is indoor/outdoor but has anxiety issues and will barge out the door if he thinks you’re leaving. Joan lets him out during the day to play exercise and always offers him pets and treats and he is happy to come back in the house for her at night so he don’t have to stay out. This is great especially if the forecast is bad as he is afraid of storms. He also has take a daily joint supplement and the cold is hard on him. Joan makes sure he gets his supplement daily in cheese just as I would give it to him. One of my cats is lazy and is fine as long as he is fed daily. The other young and rambunctious and runs outside frequently but she manages to keep him occupied inside with pets or allows him time to play outside while she does other chores before insuring he is back inside safe nightly while I’m away. The chickens/duck are free range they run the entire farm they have a coop to go up in nightly that is locked so they are safe from predators. I don’t have an auto door so they have to be let out of their coop every morning fed/watered as needed and then locked back up at night. They are “night owls” so to speak and wait as late as possible to go up so at times Joan has to offer them treats or stay late and wait for them to go up without complaint. As a bonus she collects my eggs for me so that the nesting boxes are free for the hens the next morning. This is especially helpful when we are gone during the holidays in the cold months when they can freeze. The duck will not swim in our pond he is spoiled and wants his kids pool to swim in with fresh water. Joan takes exceptionally good care of all my animals and is very reasonably priced compared to paying boarding fees for pets so I highly recommend her services.

I care for my Clients pets just like I would my own. They get walked safely if they need to be, ( Leash or harnessed depending on what the client has) if the client has a yard then the pet will be let out supervised in the yard and played with. I try to keep all aspects of the pets care the same as when their owner is home with them, because consistency is key with pets of all ages. I try to give the pet the same quality of care that their owner would provide for them. The only exception is that I come with treats ( that are approved by the owner) because I believe in positive interactions with dogs so your dogs might be a little fatter when you come home, but they will be happy and well cared for.
Information Joan W. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if there are specials treats that your pet prefers or if they have a preferred method of interaction. Please let me know if there are any specialties that I need to take care of with your pet.
A typical day
Depending on where you are located will depend on where I take your pet for their walks. If you are in Rogersville then I will take then to the City park or to Crocket Springs park. If they have a fenced in yard then we will play ball or run around in the area provided.
