I have been close friends with Joan R. for almost 10 years. I do not believe that it would be possible to find a person more responsible, caring, and qualified to care for a pet than Joan. Joan is a committed caregiver to dogs and has devoted many years to helping sustain an endangered AKC-registered breed. As long as I have known her, she has been the National Coordinator for rescue operations of the AKC Club for this endangered breed. In addition to the many, many, many dogs of this rare breed that she has helped rescue and place in good homes, Joan currently has three dogs of her own. One of her pets is almost 17 years old and she also is helping care for a male of a friend who passed away. She has had dogs for most of her life and I know that she would always care for someone else's pet as her own. She rescued a seven-year old female for us who was painfully shy and withdrawn because she had spent all of her seven years in puppy mills, including being born in one. Joan drove to Missouri to get her (together with six other rescues) and took extreme precautions to bring her safely to us. Joan has always shown so much love and kindness to the animals who are in her care and anyone who has her as a dog caregiver would indeed be very fortunate. I have known her to be a wonderful and caring friend to all animals and all people.

Our family has known Joan for several years. She has helped care for our dogs and shown great love and affection for them. She is one of the most honest and caring persons we have ever met. Her work in rescuing dogs is outstanding.
