Reactive dogs & cats
Pet care experience
I had a reactive dog for years and took several training classes to learn how to read and handle her, and currently have a cat. I'm pretty intuitive with animals and learn quickly how to work with them if they have health/behavioral issues so they're taken care of and as comfy as possible. I've been taking care of friends' and coworkers' pets for a while now, but I still really miss having a dog to walk and spend time around. I hope I can meet some new animal friends here :)
Reviews
Jo took such good care of my cats!! She sent lots of pics and updates and went out of her way when I had forgotten something they needed. It’s so much easier to travel when you know your cats are taken care of! I could tell she spent time with them behind taking care of the necessities.
Jo did a great job with my dog. She is a good communicator and obviously loves taking care of pups!
She did great with my high-energy, dog-reactive pup! Tired her out and kept her safe. Would use again!

I try to keep the pet's routine and surroundings the same as when you're with your pet, and will respect your home as if it were my own. I have a lot of loose leash training experience for walks and will communicate and send you pics/videos frequently for check ins. I'm also good with plants and can care for them if you're gone for long periods of time.
Information Jo P. would like to know about your pet
I would need to know if your dog is very vocal or has a routine ahead of time. I also need to know if they have separation anxiety or how they've been in the past when you've been gone so I can adjust my care accordingly. For stays longer than 5 days, I charge a $20 fee that is used on any treats or toys I may need to buy while you're gone.
A typical day
I'm big on getting into a routine with a new animal, and usually play, walk, and then feed and groom dogs (depending on what routines they're used to) and I'll feed cats, play with them, and then brush/groom as needed. My previous dog was a hound and food oriented, and I got good at creating puzzles or having toys that stimulated her hunting/sniffing needs, but I can easily translate those skills to mental stimulation with toys or affection, depending on the animal. With cats, I love to cut out some time to spend one on one, either cuddling, playing or brushing them. If they are more shy though, I'm okay with leaving treats out or admiring them from afar :)

Availability
I work full time with a pseudo-flexible schedule that gives me availabilty to do morning and evening check ins regularly. I'm almost always available on weekends and love hiking if you want your furbaby to have some quality outdoor time!
