K-9 Quixote Ranch. Dripping Springs

Pet care experience

Helloooo dog parents, June, 2019 My husband and I have a small "ranchette" that sits on 10 acres in Dripping Springs, just a stones throw from Pedernales Falls State Park. We are CRAZY dog lovers...well, really crazy animal lovers... but dogs are at the top of the food chain around here. (You can see pictures of our rover guests and our own pack of wags on instagram: @k9quixote) My husband, Tom, is a cabinet maker and works from his home wood shop. I am a child therapist and work part-time in Austin. This means that between the two of us, Tom and I have a lot of flexibility and get to take turns staying home with our 6 month old daughter and k-9 tribe. In addition, Tom's childhood best friend, Chris, moved to our farm compound 2 years ago to join the cabinet making business and has become an integral part of our family. He is a calm spirit that babies and animals are drawn to, and an additional set of hands and eyes that keep things running smoothly around the farm. This is why dog sitting is such a good fit for us. We are usually able to provide almost constant human companionship for your k-9 kids, and have many rover stays where the dogs aren't alone for a single minute during their stay. If we are unable to provide a lot of contact we will let you know in advance. We feel it's unethical to provide dog sitting services, just to leave them at home alone for an 8hr workday. We bend over backwards to ensure that Cash and crew are almost never left alone, and even then, for a minimum amount of time. As a result, we are able to provide your dog with the same commitment. Our tribe: Cash is our ridiculously sweet male golden- doodle , who turns 9 this October. He LOVES all other dogs, and is a great playmate. (It is important to note that Cash and Willie are not neutered). Cash and I graduated from the Texas State Animal Assisted Counseling Academy, and became a registered Pet Partners therapy team. In the future, Cash will co-facilitate child-centered play therapy with me. He loves people, kids, long walks on the beach... but more than anything, he LOVES making new Rover friends!!! Speaking of friends: River! ...Is our neighbor's sweet, goofy, male Chihuahua mix. We adore him! He's an adventure farm dog who has decided that he likes to spend his days following us around and playing with Cash and Willie. Even though he officially lives next door, we have unofficially adopted him, and he spends 95% of his time with us. He and our duo are best friends, and he has quickly become famous among our returning Rover clients :) He is a universal playmate, and is known for engaging dogs who don't generally play into fun, fun, fun play. So don't be surprised if he's tail wagging front and center when you come for a meet and greet! Willie is the newest addition to the farm. I found him in the middle of the night, in the middle of a storm, in the middle of a blind turn on Fitzhugh Rd. Now he sleeps in the middle of Tom and I :) He is a sweet, spunky little guy, 3yrs old this December. He has quickly adjusted to farm life, and prefers dogs to people. Tom, our resident dog whisperer, only won him over after weeks of fried eggs for breakfast! We think he may have had some bad experiences with men in the past, but he is more social and trusting every day. He can be a little fearful of new big dogs at first introduction, but quickly becomes a biggest admirer of all our Rover guests, and loves to play and snuggle. We also have chickens, mini dairy goats, and mini donkeys that live in a dog proof fenced-in half acre on the property. Our mama goats each delivered twins 3 years ago, and it has been so much fun to watch them grow. We kept two of the four, Fancy and Elvis. The rest of our 10 acres is fenced and gated for lots of fun, safe, outdoor adventures with the dogs. We spend a ton of time outside, and the dogs are never outside unattended. If your dog is tiny or a gifted escape artist, we are happy to keep them leashed! We have a few feral farm cats, Mama, Kit, and Ringo, that I trapped, fixed, and now feed, but they tend to stay clear of us and the dogs. That covers just about everything! We look forward to meeting you!

Jillian, Husband and furry family are just wonderful Souls. My girl loves staying with their family. And, I just would not travel without knowing she was getting this care of love and attention. Highly recommend their home.

If you are a couple getting married out in Dripping Springs and want to include your pup in your big day Jillian is the person you want to meet!! She is incredible and made the entire process of leaving our dog over the long busy weekend seamless. We were able to drop off our pup after our rehearsal and up until he needed to meet us at the wedding she sent updates on how he was doing as well as pictures! Our pup got to run around a play on their huge ranch with all of their other dogs (who are so sweet) and have a fun time instead of being stuck up with us while everyone is so busy preparing. When she brought him up to the wedding it was the highlight of our day...besides getting married of course...and he was so happy to be walking down the isle as the cutest ring bearer ever. She was in contact with me and my coordinator the entire day and made us feel so comfortable. She also left us the sweetest note in his overnight bag as well as a treat thanking our dog for being a well behaved guest! Thank you so much Jillian for helping us have the wedding of our dreams and taking care of our little guy for us! We can’t thank you enough! - The Risser’s

The good, the bad, and the ugly....don't hold back! I want to know what makes your fur-baby special, and what your specific concerns are regarding their stay at our house. My Rates: ***Current clients, I had to raise my rates for future clients, but don't fret, your current rate is locked in and will never change! I will modify your cost to reflect your rate at the time of booking. ***Future clients, I LOVE all of our rover doggies, and am so honored when clients keep bringing their babes back to us, so I want to recipricate that loyalty by locking in your initial rate in perpetuity. This means your stay rate will never increase from your first booking.

A typical day

Some background. I had a wonderfully eccentric and complicated pitbull, Doofus, that I raised from 5wks old to 11 years old. I loved him more than anything, and had an impossible time finding suitable kenneling/sitter situations for him that didn't cost a fortune thanks to his size (he was 110lbs), his breed, and his temperament (not always dog friendly). I also always worried about him being neglected, not getting enough exorcise, having his routine interrupted, and care takers not heeding my instructions to the letter. Every time I had to leave him over the years it was a sad, anxiety ridden experience for both of us.... so I want to provide the kind of dog care that I struggled to find: loving; safe; dependable; individually tailored; affordable. This means: *When your dog is here they are family: -They can snuggle on the couch -They can sleep in our bed -They can sit on my feet while I make breakfast -They can help me dig holes in the garden -They can go on outings to home Depot with my husband. -They can go hiking with us at Pedernales Falls -They can go to Jester King for a pint and pizza ....basically, they will just be part of our lives....at the very center. *They are guaranteed exorcise, outdoor adventure, play time (dog and human), treats, snuggles, and way more human companionship than any kennel and most dog sitters can usually provide. We can also provide routine and reinforcement for training commands and behaviors that you guys work on at home. *No breed or size restriction: -In fact, I'm a sucker for giant dairy cow, meat head dogs :) -We love and have experience in some capacity with bully breeds, Rotts, Shepherds, Mastiffs, Dobies, Danes, Pyranese, etc. -And I love the littles and everyone in-between! I grew up with Dachsunds, and have Beagle, Aussie, Westie, Frenchie, Boston, and mini poodle nieces and nephews! -The only condition is that they be able to get along with, or at least tolerate, our 3. ***The biggest factor is that you guys come out for a meet and greet before your dog's visit. This way we can ensure that everyone is a good fit. If you can't make it out for a meet and greet before hand, your dog must truly be dog friendly. We charge an additional daily fee for dogs that don't come meet us before hand. *We will accommodate any special needs, rules, routines, and instructions: -If your dog gets medicine 3xs a day, no problem -If your dog must always be leashed when outside, no problem. -If your dog is friendly off leash but can't meet dogs on leash, no problem -If your dog is super friendly but gets weird about sharing toys, bones, etc., no problem -If your dog needs to eat separately, no problem -If your dog needs to be kenneled when left alone, or likes to kennel at bed time, no problem -If your dog gets a chewie at breakfast or bedtime, no problem. -If your dog likes belly rubs but hates his ears touched, no problem. ....you probably get the point. *As for food: -We recommend/welcome you to bring your own food, treats, chews, kennel, bed, dog bowls, etc. -Or we will provide food for an additional daily fee. -We buy Taste of the Wild grain-free kibble, and mix with a heaping spoonful of Taste of the Wild grain-free canned wet food and a little warm water. *As for truly special needs, like deaf, blind, injured, arthritic, ancient... -We're willing to accommodate them if we can, and if they will be happy, safe, and comfortable in our house with our trio. *We're also willing to accommodate more than one dog, again, as long as they will be happy, safe, and comfortable in our house with our dogs. BASICALLY, contact me and we can figure just about anything out! *Currently only offering dog care to one dog family at a time. Unless, I know the dogs involved well, and have discussed/cleared overlapping visits with all parties involved ahead of time. *No major time constraints on pick-up and drop-off as long as we agree on a time in advance. ***We charge by the day, but don't charge for the final day if you pick up by noon. If your dog needs to stay beyond noon we will charge for the final day... *********************************** WEDDINGS ******************************* We love folks who want to include their beloved fur-balls in their wedding ceremony and photos! And Dripping Springs is the wedding capital of Texas... In fact, a few popular venues are just minutes from our doorstep! We do offer boarding and escort services for wedding party dogs in the Dripping area. This means that your dog can board with us as a Rover guest, and either Tom, Chris, or myself will escort them to the venue on your wedding day and hang with them (up to 2hrs) while they participate in your ceremony and/or photos. Afterwards, we'll bring them back home for the remainder of their stay. Wedding Pricing: --Wedding day escort is a flat $100; if you have your own escort person they are welcome to pick up your pooch for ceremony/photos and drop them off later at no charge. --Boarding prices are our standard fees, AS LONG AS YOUR DOG COMES FOR A MEET AND GREET BEFORE YOUR WEDDING WEEKEND. If you live outside of the Austin area and cannot make a meet and greet happen before your wedding weekend, then your daily rate is $75/day. It is way harder for your dog, our dogs, and us to settle in together without a meet and greet. It's also paramount that your dog (MUST) be dog friendly! We've had a couple of challenging experiences where we received Rover guests who were not compatible with our guys and had to be managed/separated all weekend to keep everyone safe :/ Not ideal for anyone! --So: No meet and greet + Boarding Friday-Sunday + Wedding Escort = $250 Meet and greet + Boarding Friday-Sunday + Wedding Escort = $190 Meet and greet + Boarding Friday-Sunday + No wedding escort = $90
