Fenced yard & friendly terrier bud!

Pet care experience

**Update: 10/1/2021: Our services are currently still on hold as we navigate parenthood of our human baby in this ever-changing pandemic. We miss our clients very much, and hope to return to dog-sitting at some point in the near future. You're always welcome to reach out to us if you need care, but please be patient if it takes us some time to get back to you!** Hi there! We are an active couple who love dogs and love to provide company for our own little buddy, Blakie! We spend lots of time outside in our large fenced-in yard, and take multiple long walks each day, especially when the weather is nice, but we also love to snuggle up with pups on the couch. We adopted Blakie in 2018 and he loves to make new friends, big and small! He is pretty easygoing and tries to engage every dog he meets in friendly play, but is also respectful if his new friend isn't interested. He is known by many of our friends with shy dogs as the magic playmaker! We often hear that "s/he never plays!" - until Blakie gets them to come out of their shell. :) I (Jill) work from home most of the time, so pups staying with us get lots of snuggles and outdoor time during the day! We know how tough it is to leave your heart and soul with someone else, and we take the responsibility of caring for your pet very seriously. We hope you'll let us know how we can maximize your peace of mind, and that you can feel comfortable knowing your pet will be loved and spoiled like our own while they are with us. I am also a research nerd and former educator, and deeply enjoy reading and learning about all things pet care - dog psychology, nutrition, behavior, etc. We work hard to understand the root causes of behavioral issues within or between dogs who stay with us, and use conscious/positive discipline to support them while they are in our care. We encourage you to ask us about these practices and share your own experiences working with your dog's behavior! We are also happy to accommodate special dietary needs/requests - just let us know. Thanks for considering us, and please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Jiill and Jonathan seem very knowledgeable about animal behavior and Bentley seemed to really take to them and their dog, Blackey. We are already planning our next stay.

Jill and Jonathan were wonderful!!!! We've now used them twice for dog sitting for longer trips, and plan on using them in the future. They thoughtfully arranged a meet up so our pup could meet theirs and make sure they got along (their doggy is super sweet!). They are very quick with communication and we received frequent updates and pictures while we gone. Our dog was obviously excited to see them again when we dropped her off for the second visit :)

Information Jill & Jonathan M. would like to know about your pet

What does a typical/ideal day look like for your dog? We'd love to know how to keep your pup the happiest while s/he's in our care, as well as any special needs or quirks. We treat all dogs like our own - with compassion, love and empathy - so it's super helpful to know upfront if there's anything we can do to keep them comfortable and happy. We'd specifically like to know about your dog's energy level, and what kind of activity they are used to having in a typical day. We can accommodate most small dogs and calm medium-large doggos, but for medium-large dogs (35+ lbs) with a high, sustained energy level, we often recommend other options for long-term care. We spend as much time outside as possible and believe that a dog should be a dog - meaning cage-free and free to roam and romp as much as needed. However, our house is on the smaller side and weather can be unpredictable, so dogs who need all-day activity and stimulation may be a better fit for a sitter with a larger home or a traditional kennel experience. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure and we would be happy to help you figure out what's best for your family! Please also be sure to share your preferred dropoff/pickup time when you book with us. Our "open for business" hours are typically 8:30am-9pm on weekdays and 10am-9pm on weekends, but we can sometimes make special accommodations when needed.

A typical day

Furry friends staying with us will enjoy romps in our fenced-in yard with plenty of toys and balls to chase, and sticks to chomp! We also take walks through our neighborhood, which has both sidewalks and access to parks and wooded trails - plenty of good smells to sniff! If your pup is more of a couch potato, don't worry - we spend plenty of time just hanging out and we love to snuggle up, too. :)
