Loves dogs more than people

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm Jessie, a professional interior designer and lifelong dog (and cat) lover who works from home. Although I have been blessed to live with pets for most of my life, I currently live in a shared apartment with none, and I miss having furry friends around! I have the most experience caring for dogs, although I also grew up with multiple horses and a cat. Aside from my own animals growing up, I have pet-sat many times before in the last 10 or so years. I am comfortable with all sizes/breeds of dogs, but I do prefer to meet them prior to my first solo visit if I will be staying in or visiting their home when their humans aren't around, as I know sometimes they can be protective or caught off guard. Funny story: I once had to hide in a laundry room between the garage and the house from a cranky Rottweiler who was not feeling well and not expecting my company. I knew he was just being a good boy and protecting his home, so I managed to calm him down and establish that I was his friend. Not two hours later he was a giant teddy bear sleeping at my feet. I have a soft spot for big dogs, having grown up with everything from Bernese Mountain Dogs to Golden Retrievers. I spend many hours a day in front of a computer for my job, so I love excuses/motivation to get moving outside as often as I can to keep up a healthy lifestyle. I live in a very dog-friendly neighborhood, and I'd be thrilled to take advantage of the various parks in my area with your dog! So that's me in a nutshell. Let's chat! I would love to meet your and your pup(s).

Once again Jessie did a fantastic job making my nervous pup feel at home. She is super kind, attentive and caring to my anxious pup. I highly recommend Jessie.

Jessie is amazing! She took such great care of our pit bull for a week, and was so sweet to send pictures and updates daily. And our pup, Lacey, loved her right away, and came home a very happy dog! Would definitely recommend Jessie, and will be booking with her constantly!

Jessie drives from Scottsdale to Cave Creek almost weekly to visit, cuddle, and just shower my two dogs with love. She has grown up with dogs and cats and is extremely responsible for their care. Jessie has experienced all kinds of issues with their different needs. I would not hesitate to leave my babies in her care. Susan V.

Information Jessie V. would like to know about your pet

Do they have any challenges with other dogs? Children? Cats? Given our location in a pretty family friendly neighborhood, we will definitely run into other dogs and small children while out and about, and potentially a bodega cat. I don't have breed preferences, but will note that I myself am petite, and while again I am used to walking large, strong dogs, sometimes there's no stopping an excited pup. If your dog is extremely strong and has a tendency to take off after cats or squirrels with brute force, that will be an issue.

A typical day

I live on the UWS, so there is no shortage of wonderful parks nearby! Central Park is just two blocks away, as well as Riverside Park in the opposite direction, where we can take a quiet waterfront walk or socialize with other friends at the dog park. Given the park proximity, there are a lot of dogs in the area, so your dog will feel right in their element. As for my apartment, we are on the 4th floor of a walk-up, so there will be some practice with stairs (something to be aware of for little puppies and elderly dogs). My desk setup is in the living room/kitchen area, where there is plenty of space for a dog to hang out near me, so they won't ever be lonely. For longer stays, there is plenty of room for a dog bed... and I've been known to be a major softie when it comes to dogs sleeping in my bed (but can certainly be more strict to help mirror the rules at home if they're trained to stay off furniture). There is a good amount of floor space and a long hallway, so I foresee opportunities for indoor games of fetch if we get antsy. During the day, it is generally just me at home, but if they happen to stay longer I have three roommates who, although rarely all home at the same time, love dogs!
