I've had dogs since I was a girl, and starting in high school I was a regular dog- and house-sitter for all kinds of animals, something I continue to this day with many of my friends' pets. I absolutely love dogs of all sizes and breeds, and had a Great Dane for 12 beautiful years before getting my super high-energy pitbull puppy. So I can handle the entire gamut! My dog absolutely ADORES other dogs and has never met a dog he doesn't get along with. If you are boarding with me, I have a very large fenced backyard where the dogs can romp and tire each other out. At the end of a tiring day, we will all be cuddling on the couch or my bed. Puppies or non-crate trained dogs? No problem. I have linoleum floors in my kitchen and can handle any kind of mess. In her older years, my Great Dane had lots of health issues, so I'm well-versed in giving pills as well, if needed. I'm more than happy to accommodate crate-training, just let me know what is required! I'm also a long-distance runner, so if you are interested in me taking your dog for a walk or a run, I'd love to help you out! I find that running with dogs really allows them to burn more energy - I let them go at their pace, so we speed up at times, then slow down to take lots of sniff breaks. I love cats as well, but my dog isn't crazy about them - but I'm happy to do stop-in visits for your cat friends and have lots of experience with all kinds of cats, including special diets and those with exercise needs. I work for myself from home at the moment, so I am completely available to walk dogs, let them out in the yard, and play with them outside. They will be well-supervised, and only left at home a few hours at a time if I go to run errands or something similar. I have a fully-fenced large yard with a well-worn "zoomie race track" that my high-energy dog loves to run with his friends. My dog is a 3-year-old male who LOVES other dogs, and I'm partially doing this for him, so he can have playmates!! My house has carpet in most rooms and rugs on the slippery floors, so older dogs will find it easier to walk without slipping. I spend quite a bit of time outside doing gardening or just enjoying the weather, so the dogs and I often end up lounging around in the yard for hours at a time! I can accommodate crating, medication, and special feeding needs - just let me know what you need. I love puppies and know how to keep my shoes, plants, and other things out of reach of those little teeth :)

Jessie is amazing. She cared for my older dog for a week and provided great care and exercise and play throughout my time away. She sent pics every day and helped me feel like my dog was having just as good a time on her vacation as I was having on mine.

How they get along with other dogs (if this is a dog walk, I don't have to bring my dog if your dog is better off alone!), how well they are potty-trained, and if they are a flight risk (i.e. do I need to worry about them jumping my fence?). Any special medications or special needs, just let me know and I can tell you if I have experience and/or am comfortable with it. I have never dealt with special needs dogs or given injections, but I would be comfortable doing so if you want to explain everything to me, in detail.
A typical day
There are so many parks and trails within walking distance of my house, so every day I like to walk my dog at least an hour. We go to Westcrest park, Lincoln Park, the high school, and all over the neighborhoods. We take little breaks if it's hot out and he wants to roll in the grass! My backyard is really a fun place. There are chickens to watch (from a safe distance, through a fence), plenty of sticks, lots of places to sniff and roll around. I don't tend to take my dog to the dog park because I've had some bad experiences with dog owners at a few places, but believe me, they will get plenty of exercise with the yard, the walks we'll take, and the tons of toys I keep in my house!
