The Fairy Dogmother of the PNW

Pet care experience

I’ve been dog obsessed for as long as I can remember. I was 10 when I taught Maggie, my Australian Shepherd, all of her basic commands in sign language and I think that’s when my family realized I had a connection with animals. In Idaho and Eastern Oregon, I was raised around working cattle dogs and played a major role in their training all the way up until I left home at 18. Today, I am mom to three dogs at home, a buttery-sweet St. Bernard named Dante, a spunky and snuggly teacup Yorkie named Jorge, and a mildly timid, but always happy Chiweenie named Ernesto. This eclectic band of rescue brothers are all neutered, well-socialized, and great buddies for your pooch. Dante is my second in command, so despite his size, he’s well accustomed to dogs of all sizes and accompanies me to work each day. During the week I work for a Dog Daycare and I care for 20-30 large dogs at a time. This requires skills such as animal behavior recognition and patience! I use only positive reinforcement with dogs, and onlookers consistently remark on how well the pack behaves and how happy they are. Prior to this, I worked as a drop-in dog nanny, and dog walker, privately. I’m delighted to cater to any special needs that your pooch may have, as long as I am able, so please let me know how I can help. Medication, strict feeding schedules, exercise? I’m happy to give your dog the love and individualized attention that you do while you’re away!

Jessie is AMAZING! We felt so comfortable with our large dog staying with her -- he loved his 5-day visit and became great friends with her dog. Perfect house for dogs with plenty of space and a large yard, plus a big enclosed field nearby for them to run around. What's more, she would bring our dog to the doggie daycare she works at, and we could immediately tell upon pick-up that he had the best time. He was so tired and so happy, couldn't stop smiling! Absolutely booking her again, we couldn't ask for a better dog sitter. Thank you for treating our baby like your own!

Jessie is fantastic. She took the best care of our baby boy 5 days a week during the puppy phase and she not only was instrumental in his happiness, but she taught basic commands, took him to the park, and sent us awesome photos and videos everyday. She even helped us out with an emergency trip to the vet while my husband and I were working. I’d recommend her to everyone with dogs!

Information Jessie H. would like to know about your pet

I have experience working with a long list of dog breeds, and when encountering a less familiar breed, I find the parent’s insight most valuable. -A history of the dogs activities, such as any daycare groups or other socialization. -If the dog has received any special training. -What are your pooch’s quirks? -What motivates him her? You know your baby better than anyone, if you have some tried and true tips or tricks, I’d love to hear. -What are your pup’s limits? I’ve heard it all, so if something make’s your pooch’s patience wear thin or if something scares them, I like to know!

A typical day

My home is situated on a sparsely inhabited, dead end street that leads directly to a dog-friendly park where we can explore trails and sniff other dogs! My dogs would spend all day over there if I let them. In the home I have multiple levels and a finished basement complete with sofa where your pooch is encouraged to lounge, snuggle, binge watch Netflix, or even enjoy some playtime. Most of all, dogs love my backyard, they can run and play and splash to their heart’s content. Dogs are never kenneled unless per owner request. I have plenty of space in my home with doors to separate if your pooch ever needs to be alone or alone with me. Dogs, just like humans, get in moods and most importantly, my number one goal is to keep everyone safe, happy and free from harm. *Bonus: Since I work in a Dog Daycare during the week, well-behaved, spayed/neutered poochies can come to work with me if their stay falls on Monday-Thursday! More info upon request.
