Unleash Happiness!

Pet care experience

What sets me apart from other sitters is my work experience as well as my personal experience with pets. I have been working with animals (primarily dogs & cats) professionally for about 3 years now. I have undergone many training sessions, both in-person and test-based, to ensure that I am well-informed about what it means to be a good caretaker for pets. Before moving back to my hometown in Minnesota, I was working at PetSmart in Fort Collins, Colorado as a PetsHotel Employee. As a PetsHotel Employee, my duties included being the sole supervisor of up to 15 dogs in a playroom together, providing individual playtimes to dog-aggressive or non-spayed/neutered dogs, feeding each pet their regular diet, cleaning playrooms before and after each use, and picking up after each pet after they use the bathroom. Some of the things that I have mastered are being able to identify the warning signs in both cats and dogs -- whether they are feeling ill, aggressive, scared, or nervous -- thus, knowing how to respond to each type of situation properly to avoid harming either the pet or myself. I have owned both cats and dogs my entire life and am currently a pet parent of one cat named Cheeto!

Jessica was very reliable, spend quality time with our pets and sent pictures to us-as requested. Her love of animals is genuine and we wouldn’t use anyone else! Our pets love her

Jessica has taken care of my 35 lb female Siberian Husky and has done a phenomenal job. After meeting her, I could tell she has love for all animals. She is able to figure out their needs based off their body language and acts on it in a calmly yet assertive manner, (which is needed with dogs especially huskies.) I would recommend her to my mother!

Safety, trust & environment

When taking care of another person's pets in their home, I understand that it is important to prioritize the pet's safety and well-being. Here are some of the essential guidelines that I follow when watching over my "clients" (pets) :) - Familiarize Myself: One of my responsibilities as a pet-sitter is to get to know the dog's routine, feeding schedule, any medical conditions, and favorite toys or activities. This will help me provide a more comfortable environment for your pet. - Secure the Environment: Another one of my duties is to ensure that all potential hazards such as toxic plants, chemicals, small objects are removed. Please notify me if there are any areas where your pet shouldn't have access. - Maintaining Consistency: I will stick to the dog's regular feeding schedule, exercise routine, and bathroom breaks. Consistency helps minimize stress and keeps the dog comfortable in their usual routine. - Providing Plenty of Exercise: Dogs need regular exercise to stay physically and mentally healthy. I am able to take your pet for walks, play games, and/or engage in activities that match their energy level and breed requirements. - Follow Dietary Guidelines: I will strictly adhere to the pet-parent's instructions regarding their pet's diet as well as ensure access to fresh water at all times. - Give Attention and Affection: Pets thrive on human interaction! Quality time between your pet and I includes offering attention, playtime, and affection to help alleviate any separation anxiety they may experience. - Maintaining Safe Spaces: Respecting your pet's boundaries and acknowledging their signals that indicate they want space or rest. - Keep Contact Information Handy: I will have the pet parent's contact information readily available in case of emergencies or any questions that may arise during my visit with your pet. - Monitoring Health and Behavior: I will be constantly observing your pet's behavior, eating habits, and bathroom habits closely. If I notice any significant changes or concerns, I will promptly contact the pet owner and, if necessary, seek veterinary care.

A typical day

I choose to interact with each dog and/or cat that I sit based on their own specific needs and wants; for example, a senior dog might prioritize spending relaxing time together and then short walks while a younger dog might need me to prioritize longer walks and/or hikes first... and then the cuddling! I have made a list & description of all the fun activities that I plan on doing with each pet that I care for: Play Fetch: Dogs love a good game of fetch! Go for Walks or Hikes: Taking the dog(s) on leisurely walks or exploring nearby trails and parks. Puzzle Toys and Treat Dispensers: Stimulating your pet's minds' with interactive puzzle toys and/or treat dispensers -- these provide problem-solving skills and mental stimulation for the pet. Teaching New Tricks: I am willing to set aside time to teach your dog(s) new tricks or reinforce basic obedience commands! Play Hide and Seek: Hiding treats and/or toys around the house or in the backyard and encouraging the dogs to find them (this game taps into their natural scavenging instincts and keeps them entertained!) Doggy Playdates: If your dog is social and enjoys the company of other dogs, arranging playdates with other friendly dogs with the owner's permission is something that I am open to doing! I will be supervising the interactions and ensuring compatibility between the dogs their entire playdate. Water Play: On a hot day, I can provide a shallow pool or a sprinkler for the dogs to play in. Many dogs enjoy splashing around and cooling off in the water! Snuggle and Relax: Pets also need downtime, so spending some quiet moments with your pets is a must. This includes cuddling and giving them gentle massages! These interactions help them relax and reinforces the bond between your pet and me. Capturing Memories: Taking photos or recording videos of your pets during playtime or adventures and sharing these moments with the pet owner to keep them updated; creating lasting memories.
