I have a large fenced yard that has plenty of shade and areas for a pup to be happy. Even better is that I am one minute from a large park with great walking paths and can walk to a dog park near by for some off leash time if the dog is comfortable. When they are at home they can treat it as if they have always lived there. If I leave for work or errands I will separate all animals unless they are previously known to each other to make sure everyone is safe and happy. I have a spare room that is equipped with toys bed water and a window view. If you prefer they stay in a crate that is also perfectly fine. I have a big ol bear of a Pyrenees and he is a lover, he wants to play with anyone but understands that not all dogs love him so he will leave them alone if they seem uninterested.
