Pet care experience
I was lucky enough to care for my two dogs from the beginning of their lives till the end (a golden retriever and an Australian kelpie!) I trained them well and instilled polite social behaviors with other animals. I firmly believe in a dog getting the proper amount of exercise and attention for their breed and their individual preferences. My two dogs were raised alongside 2 cats and I never had any altercations, as I know how to recognize the body language of an agitated animal. The dogs I board will experience attentive care and a gentle reinforcement of the good habits that they practice at home with you.

Our Nandi had a very good time staying with Jessica and Sean. He's a picky aristocratic poodle and won't settle for just anyone... Jessica asked lots of questions about his normal routine and Nandi seems to have been very content and happy during his weeklong first stay. Thank you!

I expect that the client will provide the dog's own food for their stay; it's hard on a dog's digestive system to make big switches to different food brands. I would prefer that the dog's toys, treats, beds, and comfort items also be provided. The fence around my backyard is rather short, so larger dogs will always be kept on a leash when outside. Dogs will only be allowed on the furniture if they are allowed to do so in their own home. I will create a walking schedule for each dog depending on their typical exercise routine.

A typical day
I try to mimic a typical day of boarding to look like a typical day in the dog's own home. Typically, I'll walk the dogs once in the morning and once in the evening. The level of exercise and play time will be based on the dog's energy level.

Availability
My boyfriend and I work opposite shifts, so there is nearly always a caretaker at home - except for a 3 hour gap in the middle of the day. This ensures that the pets we board get constant supervision/play time and plenty of potty breaks. The caretaker in the home will not be working on a computer or preoccupied in a way that cannot be paused to accommodate the needs of the animals we board. Should we have plans to leave the dogs alone, we will communicate that with the owners well in advance to work out a plan that works for everyone involved.
