Pet care experience
Between my own four-legged children and my career in veterinary medicine, it’s safe to say animals are at the center of my life. I was raised here in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area and have always had dogs and cats. I also spent most of my adolescence rescuing any stray that crossed my path (and the occasional “stray” that was actually a neighbors cat- whoops!)

Jessica is awesome. She took great care of our two kitties while we were gone for the holidays. It is such a relief to know your pets are in good hands when you travel. We highly recommend Jessica.
Jessica was responsive at all times and very caring. Thanks!!
Jessica was so great and gave a thorough check in for each visit. I highly recommend her and will book again:)
Helped us out on short notice and our dog couldn't have been happier! Really appreciated the photos and communication!

Safety, trust & environment
In 2012, I began working at a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Marin. I worked overnights for several years and then transitioned to alternating during the week between daytime emergency, dermatology and internal medicine. I love different things about each specialty and have learned a lot but emergency will always hold a special place in my heart. I stepped into a nursing supervisor role in 2019, briefly managed another veterinary ER in San Francisco and am back in Marin as a hospital service manager.
Information Jessica L. would like to know about your pet
I have no breed preferences and love them all. Being the past and present owner of a pit bull, an often misunderstood breed, I know the importance of being informed about each dog and their individual characteristics and quirks. I like to know if a dog is protective of their home and surroundings. If out on walks, its good to know if he/she is leash reactive, good with other dogs if just passing by or going nose-to-nose, and if they obey basic commands or have special cues. If off-leash, does he/she have good recall? As a disclaimer, I generally won’t take your dog to a dog park unless specially requested just because of the unknown factor with how other dogs may behave. However, if we do go, I like to know a dogs play style and if they are dog friendly versus dog selective.
A typical day
I love being outdoors and going on hikes and nature/trail walks as the weather permits. I’m also happy to just snuggle together on the couch (if they’re allowed on the furniture, of course) and give lots of love and belly rubs!

It was that love and passion for animals that led me to pursue a life-long goal of working in the veterinary field. I graduated with an AS degree from a veterinary technology program in 2006 and then subsequently passed my California state board examination to become a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2007. I worked for a small general practice in my hometown for 5 years and created wonderful bonds with the regular clients and their pets. It wasn’t until I brought my own dog to the ER that I realized I would love to explore that aspect of veterinary medicine.
