Pet care experience
I am a retired professional dog groomer of 12 years, and an animal lover all my life. I am pursuing my Bachelor’s in Art History and plan to work with historical textiles and fashion. I currently am a server/bartender to pay the bills but I do miss seeing new dogs and cats every day, so I figured I'd see about pet sitting/walking to solve that while in school. I cannot offer grooming services, my back no longer allows that strain, but as a former professional I would be happy to help you find good services if you are looking. Jessica is wonderful! I needed someone to walk my dog very last minute and she was available-I am so glad she was! She took a bunch of pics, gave him a really good walk, and sent me good feedback. She's thorough, clearly a dog person, and I will definitely be hiring her again!

In my own home, Remy gets fed canned food once in the morning, the Fancy Feast petite cuts. She gets that splurge because her dry food is Purina Pro Plan Indoor, one of the best she can get. She gets exercise with her toys, she loves to chase them, as well as chasing a laser pointer once in awhile. Her box is cleaned daily, she uses Pretty Litter, which we have been very happy with over the years. She gets greenies treats for her teeth, but she also gets her Temptations once in awhile to. Her favorite flavors are salmon and tuna, and is not a fan of beef. Knowing these details is important for her happiness and those are the details I’ll learn about your pet too

Most importantly, I want to know any medical issues or allergies to be aware of. How are they with other dogs and people when on a walk? Are they good with children or all ages or only older? If you have a cat, are they declawed? That makes it even more of an important issue that your kitty does not get loose outside somehow. Any dietary restrictions or needs I should know about? What are their temperaments like? What are their favorite things to do? Favorite toys, pillows, spots in the house to hide?
A typical day
Depending on the service, come in and greet and play with your pet for a minute and check on food, water, and litter boxes if any before going on to any meds or feedings needed. If you have a pup, a quick run out in your fenced yard will come first to avoid accidents. After that, we’ll spend some time playing, going for a walk, or just hanging out for awhile to get pets and cuddles. Before leaving, make sure your home is safe, and that all bowls and boxes are clean for the next visit or when you get home!

Availability
I generally work at night, which leaves mornings and afternoons open for school and pet care. I am still pretty flexible as far as scheduling, but with any kind of luck I can fill a few empty spots in my schedule for some pet sitting and walking!
