Pet care experience
Dogs have been a part of my life from day one. Having grown up with dogs and personally cared for them for the past 15+ years, you can be assured that your pup(s) will be treated as if they were my own. I have years of experience boarding, house sitting and daycare. My clients, family and friends have relied on me to care for their dogs (puppies to seniors/big and little), for hours at a time to multiple weeks. I am a wiz at walks, feedings, giving medicine, playing tug-of-war/fetch, bath time, and pets/cuddles. My boyfriend and I have a playful French bulldog named Frankie who LOVES other dogs. We're in SE Portland, and we love going on walks around the neighborhood and to Mt. Tabor. I will be the primary caretaker, but your dog will also get plenty of love and attention from my boyfriend as well. Frankie is outgoing and loves having other dogs to play with. We have done puppy training, so we are well-versed in practicing training skills should your pup be training as well. I can guarantee your dog(s) will get an abundance of love, attention and care. You can also expect regular check-ins, updates and photos!
Reviews
Jessica did an awesome job watching our dog Lucille overnight! She provided great updates with lots of pictures and even gave Lucille a lickmat and washed her blankets! Lucille had a great time with her dog Frankie and came home happy and tired! A fantastic stay!
Jessica H. cancelled a booking within a day of the start date.
Lucille loves Frankie and Jessica so much! She always has so much fun with them, and we appreciate Jessica and her great communication so much!

Safety, trust & environment
At our home, we try to make each pups experience feel as welcoming and fun as possible. We live in a duplex with a private, fully fenced in backyard with plenty of space for bathroom breaks, play and zoomies. Outside of our home/private backyard, I keep dogs on leash at all times (even if their recall is A+) as a precaution. Our home is puppy/dog proofed and equipped with water bowl/dog bowls, leashes, treats, toys for training/rewards, puzzle games, etc. We also have a medium sized Diggs crate that many a Rover pup guest has utilized for naps/overnight stays. We are also a dogs on the couch household - they're welcome to make themselves comfortable! At a client's home, I follow the daily routines, care and pet guidance established by each client to maintain consistency and comfort for their dog(s). I'll talk with you during our meet and greet and via message to be sure I'm clear on the routine pet care that happens at your home.

Information Jessica H. would like to know about your pet
I'd love to learn more about your pup(s) in advance to better understand their needs, so I can provide them the best care possible. The most important is thing that they get along with other dogs, as we have to make sure we're providing a safe/fun environment for our dog as well. Please let me know if they have special needs, behaviors or triggers that I should be aware of. It would be great to know how your dog(s) do with other animals, how they are on the leash and if they are house-trained.
A typical day
I think it’s important to tailor activities to each specific dog(s), but on average a fun day includes walks around the neighborhood (both for bathroom breaks and exercise), exploring nearby parks/trails (Mt Tabor is nearby), and playing with a range of stimulating toys/bones/puzzle toys/lick mats I have for dog guests. Depending on the weather, I am also up to taking your pups for walks by the river/waterfront or fun outdoor spaces that may involve a car ride (if okay with you).

Availability
With a dog of my own, pet care is already embedded in my daily routine. With my flexible work from home schedule and free weekends, I'm able to maintain a consistent across my care routine. On the days I'm WFH, I'm available for regular feedings (breakfast, lunch (if applicable) and dinner), regular bathroom breaks and zooms in the backyard, and walks at lunch and/or after work depending on energy levels. I often switch up the rooms I'm working in, allowing time for cuddling on the couch or watching active play. In preparation for having dogs stay for daycare or boarding, I will have pre-prepared lick mats and/or puzzle games to help with mental stimulation and any possible nervousness with the new environment. I do not work weekends and typically try to include a walk at Mt. Tabor for a little extra exercise.
