Professional Trainer and Handler
Pet care experience
Hello to you and your perfect pets! My name is Jessica. I have over 6 years of professional dog handling and training experience, plus more than 20 years of personally caring for dogs, cats, rodents, birds, and reptiles. I am a certified Family Dog Mediator, a Collaborative Care Partner, and a Fear Free Shelters Graduate. I’ve handled and trained hundreds of dogs using positive reinforcement based techniques. I have experience working with fearful, anxious, reactive, aggressive, jumpy, mouthy, and resource guarding behaviors. I’ve taught classes, administered medications, trained dozens of skills — and I continue to learn and study every day. Animals are the best teachers! I want to make your dog’s walks fun, enriching, and stress-free. My goal for each outing is to meet your dog’s mental and physical needs — and that means that each walk will be a unique, fulfilling experience. I aim to reinforce all of your dog’s awesome behaviors while making sure we stay safe and have a great time. Your dog’s well-being is my top priority. For those who are interested, I’m happy to provide a bit of basic training, an enrichment activity, and/or to modify the walking plan based on what works best for your dog. I’m skilled in observing body language, defensive dog handling, behavior modification, husbandry, and enrichment. Let’s chat about how walks can be even better for your pup. And be sure to tell your pup I said hello! :)

Jessica was so amazing
I just can’t say enough good things about Jessica! She knows endless amounts of games and tricks for the dogs! My dog looks very happy and relaxed with Jessica. It doesn’t happen very often because Maddie (my dog) has many behavioral challenges but Jessica found a right approach to her and now for me it much easier to correct my dog’s behavior, to help her with an anxiety and hyperactivity. I’m very grateful to Jessica for her professional help!

I can’t tell enough how much we feel lucky we found Jessica! She’s an amazing trainer and a person! Her patient towards our slightly stubborn dog is endless. After 2 months of the regular sessions I definitely can tell that our girl became happier, calmer and more self confident. Jessica sends us very detailed reports how the session went, dog’s reactions, emotions, etc. I’m also learning a lot about dogs psychology from Jessica. I highly recommend Jessica as a dog trainer/walker especially for owners with the pups that have behavioral issues. After the long research I can definitely tell that she’s one of the best positive dog’s trainers in the area. Thank you, Jessica!

I will use positive reinforcement and force free handling techniques. I’ll reward desirable behaviors and observe the animals’ body language to determine their needs. For walking services, only well-fitted harnesses and flat collars will be used without any application of pressure or aversives. I have the skills, knowledge, and experience to change my approach depending on the individual.
Information Jessica E. would like to know about your pet
The more info, the better! I’d love for you to tell me about your dog’s likes and loves and dislikes, anything that triggers fear or anxiety, favorite snacks or other dietary preferences, most treasured toys and spaces, and best ways to greet a new human friend. I am more than happy to accommodate you and your dog’s needs. Let me know what I can do to make this the best experience possible for your pup.
A typical day
I love to do what your dog loves to do. Got an active pup who wants to play and jog and generally keep it moving? I’ll drink an extra cup of coffee and stretch beforehand. Got a low key pooch who prefers an extra cuddle and some quiet observation time? I’ll happily watch the birds and offer a massage. I tend to offer ample sniffing time, reinforcement of good leash and greeting behaviors, a fun game or two, and some snuggles on your dog’s terms. For games, I teach dogs skills like Find It! and pattern games. And I generally pick locations where your dog can feel safe enough to explore and unwind.

— I currently work full-time as Executive Director of Meridian Canine Rescue. The services I offer through Rover will provide supplemental income in my days off. In addition to my professional duties caring for and training dogs and supervising other handlers, I have a house full of critters whom I adore.
