Pet care experience
I'm an animal lover who grew up in the countryside of Pennsylvania. We always had at least 3 cats and 2 dogs, plus a barn with horses. After moving out, I've lived in several apartments and houses that required frequent dog sitting for my roommates. I've also taken countless dog sitting/walking jobs over the years. The more chances I get to be around animals, the better! I adore all animals, even creepy crawlies. No matter what kind of pet you have, I can care for it. I've watched rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, lizards, horses, ferrets, and fish! I love watching large pets, but I do need to know about leash pulling if the dog is large or extra large. I understand that everyone has their own style caring for their animals. I'm happy to work with you to provide your pet with the most comfortable, pleasant experience while you're away. The absence of a guardian can lead to extreme stress for some pets, and I will do everything in my power to keep your loved companion happy and healthy. I'm very calm in emergency situations, and I've owned several special needs animals (most of them requiring strict dietary restrictions + medication). Go ahead! Book that vacation, visit that relative, attend that wedding! I'm here to help.
Reviews
Jessica is considerate and conscientious. I am happy to have found her. Hank likes her too!!
For as long as I've known Jessica, (dang, like 8 years,) she's been extremely compassionate towards animals, treating them with kindness and with a tender joy. I would trust her to take care of any dog and basically end up best friends with them after a half hour. She is the best!
Jess is a great pet sitter! I use her when I travel and Nessie and Lulu (my dog and cat) have always been right as rain when I come home. She is very attentive and friendly, and has let me know of any issues that arrise while I'm away.
Jess has always been absolutely wonderful with animals. I've known her for over 15 years and I've only ever seen her take the utmost care with both her own pets as well as mine when needed. Beyond her caring nature, she is very detail oriented and trustworthy. If you're looking for someone who is going to go above and beyond to make sure both you and your pet are happy, Jess is your girl!

Safety, trust & environment
One of the most important aspects of pet care and gaining trust is knowing the boundaries and expectations of the client. Where is your pet allowed to go? Are they anxious, chill, or aggressive? Do I need to lock up any cupboards, or keep a gate closed? Do they have an injury or special condition I need to know about? No matter what the scenario, I’m especially careful around open doors. It can be unpredictable when a pet turns into an escape artist, and I know how stressful it is when someone else is watching your curious pet. I take any outdoor activity very seriously and use the proper equipment to make sure your pet stays safe during walks.
Information Jessica B. would like to know about your pet
I have no breed preferences. I genuinely love all dogs and cats under the sun. Even the grumpy and difficult ones! I'm incredibly patient with animals--after all, there's a huge language barrier. I love studying animal body language and communication, so I can better understand what they need. I have no problem with chewing, biting, scratching, or jumping. Just let me know if it's a frequent habit, so I can take the necessary precautions to have a safe, fun time with your pet! If your pet prefers more independence, let me know so I don't overwhelm them with unwanted attention. If there is a medical condition I need to care for, I'd like to know their temperament during treatment. I also like to keep written notes for the dosage schedule and amounts (I can create these notes, if need be). If you're currently implementing a training regimen, I would love to continue that routine for you while you're away.
A typical day
If your dog is high energy, I would love playing with them at a local park, or my backyard. I also enjoy mentally stimulating activities for animals that strengthen their motor skills and banish boredom! I have experience doing this with dogs that are less active due to their personality, injuries, or old age. I'm currently living with a small dog that belongs to my roommate. He's a mutt, but I believe he's part Curly Haired Havanese. If you'd like the opportunity to socialize your pet, or if they enjoy playmates, I would love to discuss options with you.

My cat has a custom feeding schedule due to dietary needs. I use a scheduled feeder to help during the times I’m away, but I’m usually home if not at work. Plus, I love the bonding experience of giving him his food! I’ve also provided my cat with a running wheel, soft beds in different locations, kicker toys, a cat tree, and several scratching posts to keep him occupied and stimulated if there is an unexpected schedule change and I need to leave him alone. I consider it my full time job to give him the best life possible.
