Pet care experience
Having grown up surrounded by dogs of all sizes and cats of my own, I can honestly say that I have a tremendous love and appreciation for all animals. I am an active person as well as a social butterfly. I possess very good listening skills, am quick on my feet, and am hardworking. I currently live in Pacifica, CA with my girls; but I still care for and provide for dogs and cats in NYC. Read more about my experience with animals below: My work with dogs started with my four fur balls— all of whom, I rescued. My eldest was Coco, a beautiful Shih-Tzu. I rescued him in 2005 from owners who neglected his sensitive health. Through him, I learned a lot about common health issues that affect similar breeds— to the extent that I can treat other dogs suffering from the same illnesses. This experience came in handy when caring for my two youngest dogs, Mickey and Xena. I rescued Piper two years later— she's been a handful since the day she came home. Training her took a lot of time, but in the end, it was more than worth the effort. Her extensive training, all of which, I did on my own, inspired me to start walking my neighbors' dogs and train them as well. From '09-'16, I became a self-employed part-time dog walker and trainer. It started as a way to bring a bit more money home, but in the end, it was more than just a job— it inspired me to continue doing what I was doing freelance. I walked all the dogs in my neighborhood and dog/house sat for 7 years and even after I moved, I continued my work. My first move to KY, I met 2 diabetic dogs, whose delicate health required constant and attentive care. Mikey & Louie were always in high spirits, despite their declining health. I received hands-on training on how to effectively provide medicine and shots, etc. from local veterinarians in Kentucky. It ultimately helped me care better Mikey & Louie. Walking and running are necessary for all dogs; and I do these services with joy. Back in NYC, I continue to fund the upkeep of our neighborhood's TNR cat colonies. While TNR pushes for the release of cats after surgery; my mother and I (along with some other key people in the neighborhood) socialize the rescues and find them forever homes. ~—~—~ NOTE: I do not have the space or capacity for puppies, unspayed/unneutered, non-housebroken, or "backyard" dogs. - Any accidents or major messes (pee or poop) will in an additional cleaning fee of $45 per day(s) of incidents (pictures will be provided). - Dogs who require walks every 1-2 hours will be upgraded to the puppy rate of $75 per day. - Senior dogs (10+ years) are exempt from the aforementioned fees. - Any destruction of property (mine or other guests), will be billed to the responsible party as well. (Pictures will be provided).

Jessica is the best!!!
I found Jessica from Rover as our dog sitter is not available. She is very experienced and very patient. Clover was very stubborn and refused to pee and poo outside, but only did it in the house. It was very challenging for Jessica as she was taking care of other dogs at the same time. I really appreciate her being super patient to Clover.
Jessica was a great sitter for our dog. He’s not the happiest when we leave on trips but Jessica made him feel at home. We got daily updates on how he was doing and that he was having multiple walks per days. We are and will book with Jessica again.
Jessica was great! She was very patient with our dogs, especially when one was a bit upset about his holiday! She is a great communicator, letting us know how everything was going and it looks like they had a great time.

I treat everyone's pet like my own. No one is crated or placed in kennels, unless they're used to it or the owner desires for me to continue that practice. Everyone has full run of the house— they're more than welcome to relax in the bedroom with me, nap in my bed or the guest bed, snooze on the couch, etc. Meals are usually twice a day, but I will accommodate if you have a special needs dog. We also have monthly trips to the beach. I fully understand how difficult (and often nerve wracking) it is to leave your fur-baby behind, so I send daily pictures and videos of your pets in my care— I'm always in communication with owners.

Information Jessica A. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know if the dog is aggressive indoors? Aggressive outdoors? Do they get along with other dogs? With cats? Do they pull a lot on walks? Are they kid-friendly, or social in general? Do they have any allergies, or food/treat/diet needs? Is there anything they're scared of (ie. thunder, rain storms, motorcycles, etc.)?
A typical day
Every day is an adventure here and completely varies depending on the pet. A typical day will start out with an early morning walk, then breakfast, and shortly after we'll head out again for a quick post breakfast walk. Play time for a bit and then a quick nap until we have to head out for our afternoon walks. Some more play time, dinner, post dinner walk, and the last walk of the day is usually between 9:30 and 10:30pm.

I work from home. My day to day activities are all focused on pet care. Dogs under my care receive 4-6 walks a day— of course, this varies on factors such as the weather, the dog's energy level and age. Due to working from home, my schedule is also pretty flexible for drop in visits.
