veterinary assistant you’ll love!

Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Jessa. I just recently moved to Vancouver from Seattle, where I was working as a veterinary assistant. I have decided to take a bit of a break before getting back into working at a clinic here, so I've opened up my schedule quite a bit, but my availability may change as needed according to my work schedule (which I will update on my profile). I have a little over 4 years of paid professional experience caring for animals in a veterinary setting, many years of volunteer/rescue experience, as well as a lifetime experience with caring for animals. Growing up, my family bred Jack Russell Terriers, although I was much more into animal rescue and have been involved in volunteer work with cats and dogs from a young age. I am eager to put my skills and experience to use helping you have peace of mind while you are away! (I can administer oral and injectable medications as well as give sQ fluids but do not feel confident with diabetic pets just yet.)

Jessa was wonderful! She was in quick contact if I had a question or if she had a question about anything. Thank you so much!!!!

If I could score lower I would! I will never use this service! 3 days into trip I got a report from neighbors of yelling and screaming, mention of gun and using it to shoot something . I ended up pulling the sitter out and having family take over. I spoke directly with service when I got home, they said theirs nothing they can do unless I felt me Dog was in harm. At this time I had to pay for full amount of time I booked for even though I pulled sitter out. Nothing worse than being so far away from home and having to go through this. Never use them!

We and our pets loved Jessa! Even though our booking request was last minute, she found time to come over and meet us, Lula, Milo, and Solly, She was very responsive to messages, and kept us up to date with everything. Our dogs can be a handful, but Jessa was great with them and they took to her immediately. Our kitty, Solly, looks just like Jessa’s kitty so he tried to make her feel at home. The house was in great shape when we got home and the “kids” were healthy and happy. We’d love for Jessa to be our personal sitter from now on - she’s great!

Jessa took great care of both my cranky old kitty and my dogs. They were in more than capable hands while she was at my house.

My dog-sitting style is very adaptable to your dog(s) individual needs and temperament. I typically like to keep a dog(s) routine as close as possible to their routines when they are at home with you. I am very energetic and active and can definitely accommodate dogs who love long walks or even runs and need a lot of play and stimulation, but I can also easily adapt to dogs who are naturally lower-energy and more laid-back or less active due to age or medical conditions and call for lots of cuddles, slower-paced walks, or just an overall more calm, quiet environment. In my years of experience I have worked with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, and have further developed my skills in handling special needs dogs at my current animal hospital position. This means I am skilled in administering all non-IV medications, addressing dog aggression behaviors, and especially have earning a reputation as the go-to person for "difficult"/caution animals (those whose aggression issues can make them difficult to handle, fear-based aggression/biting, etc.) Through my experiences, this has sort of morphed into my specialty, an important niche I am glad to fill, although I DO definitely enjoy the easy, friendly ones too!! I am also a proud crazy cat lady and love caring for kitties too!
