Pet Lover, Pet Owner, Pet Pro!

Pet care experience

Available all holidays! ************************************************* Hello! My name is Jen and I have owned , cared, and loved my own dogs, cats, birds, fish, and small furry critters for over 25 years. I love animals, and pride myself on attention to detail and safety when caring for them. Just recently I added a puppy to keep my two young cats company. I also have a solid understanding of several canine (and feline) medical needs, take my own dog to training, and have years of experience in pet ownership. Oh, and I love, love love bully breeds. I pet sit and dog walk full time, but previously assisted in managing a respected local doggy boarding & daycare facility where I cared for, played with and monitored a variety of breeds and energy levels. I was able to learn quite a bit about dog behavior, which has been extremely helpful & I meeting all kinds of breeds and personalities! And... I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve hired dog walkers for my own dogs — safety, professionalism, trust, and great care for my dog’s wellbeing was a top priority and concern. So, with all these Rover profiles what exactly makes me different? I’m glad you asked! Here is what sets me apart from other Rover walkers:

* Insurance - I carry my own business insurance and liability. It’s been my experience, that most sitters don’t carry a separate policy. You are always covered under the Rover Guarantee, but having my own policy is carried through State Farm under the same agent I have been working with for the last 15 years. I am happy to provide my COI at our meet & greet. Full Time - I Rover full time. I won’t have any other distractions or commitments, outside of taking care of your pet. Need a last minute request? I got you covered. Several of my clients have booked me the day of (and sometimes hours before) they needed animal care. Medical Needs - Over the years, I’ve had to take care of several medical conditions in my own animals, and learned to set-up & perform sub-Q IV fluids on my cat; treat canine vestibular disease; and worked on behavior modification to include food aggression and cat/dog assimilation. I’m happy to pill your pets, or provide the care they need. Safety - it’s easy to forget about safety. At all times, I carry a animal first aid kit and mace around my neck. There have been a couple instances where off leash dogs have threatened the animals I have been with. Mace helps in these situations. In the 25 years I’ve owned pets, I have never let one been injured by another animal, nor had one escape from the yard/home. Reliable - rain. sleet. snow. sun. Holidays. Unless we are under a dire emergency, you can count on me to keep our appointments. I will not let you or your fur babies hang in the lurch. Volunteerism - I am active with two non-profit pet rescues. Long Time DC Resident - after living in the DC area for almost 20 years, I know the neighborhoods, traffic patterns (and congestion) well. This means I won’t get lost, and I will give myself enough time to make it to our appointment. Please note my hours of operation for overnight visits are 4 or 5 PM until 10 AM the next morning . Transportation - I have a reliable SUV and the back seats are folded down to provide more space. Should I ever need to transport your baby to the hospital, dog park, or some place else, your dog or cat will be comfortable. I also have hooks attached to the flatbed, so that I can easily secure a dog for safety. Quick To Respond - unless I am on a walk, I will respond to your request or text within 15 minutes. Nothing Phases Me - it’s all in a day’s work. I’m not afraid to clean up messes, wipe bottoms, or do anything else. The job is taking care of pets, and I wouldn’t be doing my job well if it grossed me out:) Flexible Meet & Greets - I am flexible in coming out to meet you, your dog/cat and discuss your needs. I don’t put a time limit on these. I want you to be able to ask me any question you like, and allow myself time to ask you the questions I’ll have prepared. This meeting is free. I’ve had some last 20 minutes, and others 2 hours. There is no rush! After all, you are making an important decision. No Breed Misnomer - Your bully breed will not deter me. I don’t believe one breed is more “dangerous” than any other. It’s a case by case basis. I have a part-pit myself. The only breeds I have been bitten by were in the “toy” family. Former Corporate Professional - I left the corporate world after 20 years. I managed high profile CEOs, Presidents, and former White House Officials and Cabinet members. Adaptability, attention to detail with a quick solving approach kept me successful. You can count on me that when I am with your pet, I will treat them as I would my own. You’re are entrusting your previous pet to me, and allowing me into your home, so no doubt you want the best for them. You want someone experienced, caring, mature and knowledgable with an eye for detail. I am that person. Looking forward to meeting your pet (and you!) soon.

Jen is the best! She is proactive, communicative, and reliable. I hate leaving my fur baby, but I feel so much better knowing Jen will be there for her.

This was my first time being so far away from my little one for so long—on top of being my first time using Rover. I am so happy that Jen was able to help me out. From the beginning, I could tell that she was a pro, in addition to being funny and genial. She was thorough and attentive, providing daily reports and a multitude of photos. Home now, I can see that she took good care of my cat. She also worked with me to figure out the logistics, which are not the easiest with the way my building is set up. I am so grateful that Jen was there for us. I was able to truly vacation knowing that my cat was in good hands.

Jen is great! She was very easy to communicate with and very prompt. She gave us detailed reports of how our kitties were doing.
