After working in semi-corporate environments for so long, I felt stifled. Once I started doing things for me - shorter, colored hair, more tattoos and piercings, people started looking at me differently, even though my personality never changed. The best part of my transformation was seeing all the animals still gravitating to me. I grew up around animals and kept up with having many different pets in my adult life. Now I get to play with, and care for, so many animals. It's not always easy, but it is rewarding to see their little faces light up when I open the door and know that I can bring them even a portion of the joy they give me.
